movie rental problems Apple TV

wow, I must say I am impressed with some of these discussions! Toms suggestion saved the day. Logout and reset! At least this did work for my system. Thanks Tom and all who posted replies! Perhaps faster than other options - Apple may be putting out other "fires" at the moment.

Thanks a lot Tom! I did as you told and now everything is fine and the film I´ve rent yesterday appears on rented.

Thanks for the advice, the latest update was infuriating. Signing out of Apple TV and iCloud + hard reset and signing back in solved the problem.

i had a similar issue.

was watching a rented movie, stopped it and then when i tried to continue the movie i had to rerent it.

i simply signed out of itunes/icloud and then reseted the apple tv.

i logged back in after the reset and then my rented movie appeared.

Before doing resets, restarts, unplugging, waiting, etc. Just sign out and sign back in. That usually fixes this particular problem

Agree with above. You don't need a hard reset just a logout and log back in. Happy to be back to watching World War Z. Almost makes me forget how annoying this actually was!!!!

I have been having the same issues. There is no such feature as "Downloads" where it suggests you go. I have no been billed three times just trying to watch one movie.

Its funny I got the same problem i did all the troubleshooting and did not work either

I've been charged for a movie I couldn’t see which I’m trying to rent again and it says that " I should go to the settings menu / downloads” but into the settings there is not any menu call Downloads! So I call apple care number1800 275 2273 for troubleshooting and the person who was suppose to help me "Liza" she try to sell me apple care packages. as long as i was not interested to purchase any plan She said I'm sorry but i cant help you and I ask her for at least tell me where is that "menu" and she said I'm sorry company policy. Why to buy an apple care plan for not being able to rent a movie? They may fix my problem after a while and the movie instead of costing me $4.99 would cost more than $20? No sense. Besides not being able to help an unsatisfied costumer not even giving a hint unless i purchase "the apple care plan"

my brother ask me to give him as present an apple TV for his bday I think will better give him a google chormecast I strongly recommend it using Amazon.

I tried the complete log out of the Itunes on the Apple TV and now I ca see the rentals. Thy this first as some of the other posts mention. I logged out completely, powered off the apple TV and left it powered off for at least 30 seconds. So far so good. Dont pay any money. Go into an Apple store and ask them.

Will_Tom is right. The hrad reset fixes teh problem.

Yep, worked for me too. Logged out, unplugged the ATV for 30 seconds plugged it back in and signed in to iTunes again. My missing movie was suddenly there under Movies > Rented. But really Apple, this shouldn't be happening - 90 minutes wasted and an entire family ****** of at Apple because of an ATV "that never works." While that's not qute true, ATV fails to work correctly far too often.

Signing in and out brings up the rentals but any time you power down the Apple TV you need to do it again. Clearly a bug in the OS update. Seems like Apple can only take wrong steps lately...
