iPhone 5s Power Button Loose/Rattling Noise

Today I had scheduled a Genius Bar appointment for my loose rattling power button. I can hear it rattle when I record video and move around, the video even records the sound and it interferes with the video. It is also bothersome, in general, to have a rattling noise on my phone. The "genius" had me unlock the phone (since I have a passcode/fingerprint I.D) and he took it to the back to take a look at it, came back and said there's nothing wrong and that it's the "vibrating motor." Yeah, sure. I place my finger on the power button and move my phone and it has 0 rattling, when I let go it rattles like a maraca. I then asked him if he could open it and try and fix it for me, and he told me that he had just opened it and everything checked out fine. Another lie, he gave me my phone back unlocked and into my settings. If he opened it it would have been turned off, and on again which would request my passcode which he doesn't have. My previous iPhone 3/4S/5 has never done this and I see it as a simple fix if they were to really open it. I have fully purchased a new iPhone every year for the past 3 years and when I encounter a problem I'm lied to and told there is nothing I can do about it. I'll be scheduling another appointment soon in hopes I get a different employee that will actually help me.

What I want to know is, is there a fix to this?
When I take videos it captures the rattling noises ruining the video.

Count me in.I am also a victim of the rattling issue(5s Space grey 16GB).After paying a hefty amount, it is really disappointing for such a flaw from Apple.The apple customer care informed me that this is an expected behaviour with 5s and apple is keenly collecting data on the magnitude of this problem. Based on this data, Apple shall decide the future cours of action in the upcomimg months.😟

I wonder if there is any merit to what they have told you. I mean, I wonder if millions of people would have to complain first. In any event, we should all be supplying our feedback to Apple on this issue if we expect to get anywhere! Thanks for the update.

Probably worth it tbh. On a side note my week 39 Model seems to have stopped doing it...it comes and goes but seems to be doing it less and less over time.

This is such a disappointing issue. Two family members just recently purchased the new 5s phones and we have BOTH noticed the annoying rattling problem within ONE WEEK of purchasing the phone. I paid a premium price for this phone and I expect a premium product. Very disappointing, Apple. I hope they figure this problem out or else I may have to reconsider being so loyal to the brand.

Same problem here. Got mine just yesterday. Disappointed :( maybe they'll launch a call off campaign to fix the problem?! That would be a proper thing to do!

While Apple doesn't yet have a solution to this problem, in the meantime it's very important that you get the fault on record with Apple at at early stage, ideally within days of purchase, and get a case reference to quote later. In many countries, you have a long time to demand a free repair or replacement. For example in all 28 countries of the European Union, national laws give you at least 2 years to bring a claim against Apple, and often a lot longer than this, e.g. 6 years on most of the UK or 5 years in Scotland. If Apple rectifies the problem in 6 months' time, you will need a case reference to demonstrate that the fault existed at the time of purchase.

I went to the apple store I got a new one and it still did the same thing I think we just have to live with it at this point

Hello , I'm from Belgium , I have a Gold 32 Giga , I'm considering doing the same thing but I have one question before taking the risk .

After applying and cleaning will you still have traces that could hurt iPhone's look , anything visible ????????

Hi,

I've got the space gray one and i just cleaned it with a dry paper towel, the spray did not change the colour of the aluminium or the glass, no visible traces.

I just test sprayed on a paper towel (most likely there will be a little drop left on the application tube) and then placed one or two drops on the crack of the power button and pressed a few times. I would not recommend to spray directly at the button (huge mess).

The only thing i noticed is that there is a little bit of liquid gathering around the crack after using it for some time, but that will settle after a few days.
