Your AppleTV is not bricked. The update did not install successfully, so you need to restore it.
Thanks Peter.
FYI, as I described in a different thread, the Genius Bar wasn't able to restore my ATV2, either. The tech hooked it up to his Mac with their micro USB cable...the restore went fine until the very end, when it threw an 1163(I think...can't remember for sure) error message. Tech couldn't find any explanation of the error code that applied to an ATV. He tried the restore again, but now the device wouldn't show up in iTunes (and he was pressing the two buttons on the remote to force it into DFU). He then tried connecting it to another Mac, but it wouldn't appear in iTunes on that one either. The only thing I could see the tech did that conflicted with the restore procedures posted here was that he had my ATV2 connected to power...which I've read here isn't necessary on that model.
I was able to keep my ATV2....maybe there's a way to unbrick it. If so, I will consider the whole thing a win.

Hi
I live in the wildes of deepest France and do not have a Genius Bar near to me, but I am travelling to London next week so I'll pop in then.
I had the same issues as you and could not restore my ATV, so hopefully they will be able to fix it. It is still under gaurantee I believe.

You identified the tech's mistake. The ATV2 will not work properly with iTunes when the power cord is connected. When I owned two ATV2s, I tried connecting them to the Mac and iTunes to perform some "work" on them, they would not work correctly with the power cord connected. When I pulled the power cord and only used the Micro-USB cable, the ATV2 appeared in iTunes. Since you still have your ATV2, try it again. Apple has released the "fixed" version of 6.0. Use the latest version of iTunes and plug in the Micro-USB cable. If the ATV2 appears, attempt the restore again and iTunes will download the "fixed" version of 6.0 and that might restore it. Remember to enable the View Sidebar feature in iTunes 11 so you can easily see if the ATV2 appears in the Device list.
Peter,
Thanks....I'm traveling this week so won't be able to try again until Friday night or Saturday...I'll report back here the results of the effort. (And thanks for pointing out that connecting power to an ATV2 DOES matter, by the way!)

I still have the problem with my Apple TV (3), the firmware that I have is: AppleTV3,1_6.0_11A502_Restore.ipsw
but then a problem occurs. Appears a window notification saying: This Device isn't eligible for the requested build.
I was erased over and over again (I already know where is the ipsw folder when iTunes takes the download) and trying with different ipsw (for to downgrade without success).
Please just tell me if an Apple Certified Store (Mexico) could change my Apple TV, I'm so desperate trying to fix this piece of garbage. And yes I have a micro USB cable (and I was doing all the steps very accurately) but the problem is from Apple, I need an answer and I can't believe it, Apple is doing all wrong with this and that, not to mention the iPhone 5 battery with iOS7 its a shame, I'm totally dissapointed with all this.
Restore the AppleTV using iTunes and it will download the latest AppleTV 6.0 build for your device. Delete the ipsw file you have now so iTunes will download the newest one that fixed the over the air update problem. There were two AppleTV3 models. One released in 2012 and one released in 2013, which used a redesigned A5 CPU. You might be using the wrong AppleTV 6.0 ipsw file for your AppleTV3.
Of course I did that, I was deleting all the IPSW for to take vía iTunes (from apple) the new one, but appears with that window messsage over and over again saying: "This Device isn't eligible for the requested build". I you catch me, I wrote the IPSW in the previous post, that is from my Apple TV with serial number: C0*******RHN Model: A1427
I was trying with all this Firmwares:
6.0.0 (ATV 3): AppleTV3,1_6.0_11A502_Restore.ipsw
6.0.0 (ATV 3 New): AppleTV3,2_6.0_11A502_Restore.ipsw
6.0.0 (ATV 3): AppleTV3,1_6.0_11A470e_Restore.ipsw
6.0.0 (ATV 3 New): AppleTV3,2_6.0_11A470e_Restore.ipsw
The problem is still remaining
Any clues?

After several attempts to restore via iTunes, it worked. So now all OK and no longer need to visit a Genius Bar.

Problem Solved Thanks to this link:
Restore error 3194 or 'This device isn't eligible for the requested build'
Thanks anyway for your time and help 😀
Now everything is going to normal and I'm so happy again!!
After returning from my business trip, I followed the procedures linked here and was able to restore my ATV2 by connecting it to my Mac with a micro USB I found lying around and, without having the power cable plugged in, launching iTunes. Worked on my first attempt.
Thanks for the tips!
