Why can I not see/update the carrier settings in iOS7?

I recently had my iPhone carrier unlocked by AT&T. I performed the full restore and updated to iOS7 at the same time and during the update process I also restored my backup; when I tried to access the internet however my data was not working. I tried to find the carrier settings in the cellular section of the settings but nothing was there. Undeterred, I thought maybe the restore process had been flawed as I had set my phone up from backup during the update. At that point I went ahead and did a full restore again without restoring from the backup this time but the carrier settings stil did not show. At this point I'm stuck with an iPhone that has no access to data even though I should be able to update the carrier settings on my phone - for the record my new carrier is Straight Talk. I did contact their customer service and they advised me to visit a website that would update my settings but that's not what my goal here is. What do I need to do to get the data service on my iPhone working properly?

You can't see the setting because you're using an AT&T based SIM. You'll need to use the T-Mobile SIM swap or update to iOS 7.0.3 to get an iPhone to work on Straight Talk's network. Also make sure you're using the newest SIM from Straight Talk or call them to update your SIM.

My wife has an AT&T iPhone 5 with iOS 6 running on StraightTalk (via AT&T's network with the older ST SIM). I was waiting for 7.0.3 to come out in order to bypass most of the initial iOS 7.0 release glitches. In addition to that, months ago I requested this iPhone to be unlocked by the AT&T via their website tool. They came back and said that it has to be restored via iTunes. So, anyway, today I did that and got iOS 7.0.3 without any restoring from a backup (just started out fresh as if it was a new device setup). I was surprised to see a few new things. First, the upper left now says TFW (Tracfone) rather than HOME. Second, I was hoping that now it was "unlocked" that I could view & adjust the APN settings but that was not the case. Third, I was able to send & received MMS messages to & from an Android phone (in other words, not via iMessage). Lastly, I was able to connect to StraightTalk mobile data immediately without any profile additions/changes, APN setting adjustments, or any help from unlockit.co.nz! I hope things don't change. Again, I did this all just now so hopefully this works indefinitely.
