My Photo Stream is empty with iCloud Control Panel 3.0

I've got iPhone, iPad and PC (Windows 8) in sync with iCloud Control Panel 2 properly before.

Days ago I upgraded to iCloud Control Panel 3.0, Other shared photo streams and iCloud bookmarks are sync perfectly but "My Photo Stream" is not sync on PC anymore. I've cleaned up iCloud Photos sync folder completely and signed in to the iCloud Control Panel again, but "My Photo Stream" is just not sync.

Any idea?

After trying every fix on here, I wasn't able to get photostream to work properly on my personal laptop, which it used to work just fine on.

I just downloaded the icloud control panel on my work desktop to see if I would have the same issues, and all my pictures showed up instantly. So I can only conclude maybe it does have to do with my laptop in some way, even though it worked fine on there before the update. Both my laptop and work computer are running Windows 7.

So if you have the option of multiple computers/laptops, I would try it on a different one and maybe that could be a solution.

Still very frustrating that it doesn't work on my laptop. 😟

After my initial comment, regarding Dropbox, I cannot get iCloud to sync Photo Stream on either my desktop, or my laptop. both are running Win 7 64bit OS, one is Home edition, the other Pro. This software just does not want to work with either setup. Anybody any ideas regarding Avast, and Malwarebytes software? Could my PC protection be the problem?

The only answer I have is that the original version of iCloud worked straight away, and it was only after the "upgrade" to version 3 that the problems started.

I am new to this Apple stuff, after delaying for a long time to buy a tablet. The reason I went for the iPad was the simple synchronisation of pretty much everything, and the fact that the Sky Go support for Android was non existent.

It's very disappointing to discover that Apple seem to have the same corporate disregard for their customers. I also contacted the helpline for tech support, and was told the same answer as most out there, that the files were loading into the cloud, but must be my problem with Windows.

Very poor Apple, must try harder.

This worked for me. Once. Just like every other "fix." And it only downloaded less than 10% of the pictures. Once it downloaded those pictures, it stopped, and it won't download new ones or any of the old ones it didn't download at first. And they aren't in order. No rhyme or reason to the photos that downloaded.

I have been dealing with this issue for weeks and getting one fix to work for an hour or so, and then it stops, too. I am tired of this. No wonder everyone I know says they're switching to Droids! I have spent at least 20 hours on this problem in recent weeks. This is one big reason I have an iPhone. VERY disappointing "service" ...

I had very similar issues and decided that the Windows fiewall might be the culprit, so I disabled it temporarily. Sure enough, all of my photos stored in my Photo Stream folder on my phone started to populate the My Photo Stream folder on my PC. Once I verified that all photos had downloaded to my PC, I re-enabled the firewall, and took some test photos with my phone to ensure the new photos would download. They did...

I appreciate all the comments and am hapy that some of you have resolved your issue....only wish I could say the same. I have not yet tried the Version 1 of the iCloud Panel. I did try both disabling the Windows Firewall, and adding ICloud and iCloud Photos to communicate through the Windows Firewall.... didn't change much of anything. Additonally, not only do the number of photos populated vary (as well as well as populating in random order)...but I also experience various amounts of time for both the sign in and sign out of the iCloud Panel to be completed....and sometimes it does not enable the iCloud Photos to be enabled to start populating pics. Sometimes I have to open and close the iCloud Panel several times for the iCloud Photos to be enabled. Since Apple and Microsoft are competitors in the phone and tablet realms, I'm not sure that either has much incentive to work together to fix the iCl;oud Panel issue....

In my case the problem was - probably - caused by the photo stream on the computer getting out of sync. Photo stream was working fine on the laptop, iPad, iPhone and Mac, but not on the desktop pc. This happened just after updating to Win 8.1 and iCC 3.0. I accidentally moved some photo's from photo stream to another map on the pc (Win 8.1, iCloud control center 3.0) and after a while I noticed that no new pictures were added.

I tried most of the solutions given here, but only when I combined the solution from Huanwlisa and Pepms it worked for me.

First I saved all the pictures in the photo stream to a new folder on the Mac.

Next I deleted the photo stream folders from the pc.
Then I followed the first three steps of pepms

  1. Open Task Manager (ctrl, alt and delete) and end ApplePhotoStream.exe and AppltPhotoStreamDownloader.exe if they're running.
  2. Go to your Users folder and navigate to the following path: C:\Users\Dean\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MediaStream\ - Obviously my user folder is Dean but yours will be the user that you're logged into Windows as.
  3. Delete everything in that folder.
  4. log out of icloud, and then log in and re-activate the photos option
it should start downloading again your photos.

Next I followed the steps from huanwlisa:

  1. delete all your photo streams including shared streams( unsubscribe other shared streams) at your IOS devices or iPhoto on your mac, you can back up your photos in advance.
  2. wait until all your devices sync as empty in your photostreams.
  3. sign out at CP in your PC.
  4. sign in at CP , take a pic to try if photo streams works.

The first thing was a bunch of photo's (300+) appearing out of nowhere on photo stream on the pc. After they were all downloaded to the pc, they synced to photo stream on the iPad. After this stopped, I deleted the photo's from photo stream on the iPad. Lo and behold, the photo's disappeared out of the photostream on the pc as well. Photo stream has been working fine for more than a week now.

I hope this will work for others here as well.

What seems to be "working" for me now is this:

(I can not get it to work at all with my own folder location anymore, so I now use the auto-generated iCloud photos folder)

1. Go to iCloud in Control Panel, and uncheck photos (that's all I have checked now, so you should probably uncheck all)

2. Sign out of iCloud

3. Back up any pictures elsewhere on my hard drive

4. Delete the entire "iCloud photos" folder

5. Log back into iCloud

6. Check "photos"

7. Apply

8. Photos start showing up in newly generated iCloud photos folder

The photos that download are random - it's not all of them, and (???) it includes pictures that have been deleted from the photo stream on my iPhone (I only use my iPhone and Windows 7 PC for photo stream). Don't get that. BUT all the new photos come through (at least at this point...), and that was what I wanted.

Honestly, it's easier just to back up the phone by plugging it into the computer and copying the pictures directly. But maybe this will help some of you.

Guuuys, it seems I have very good news without any action with photostreams and icloud control panel itself. just analyzed few logs on icloud at my working win7 32bit and not working win8.1 64bit. i'll update you later if it really will last longer than one hour and 200 pics. photostreamsdonwloader seems to work properly and downloads my older and just taken photos

surprisingly my icloud control panel 1.0.1 is working perfectly for me.

yesterday i installed fresh windows 8.1 pro and did the following:

THIS STEP IS TO MAKE SURE U GET AS MANY PICS AS POSSIBLE:

installed control panel 1.0.1 and let it download pics, it will download about 100 pics, when it stops, signout, delete the folder mediastream, sign back in and change the download folder to a new folder, again start the photostream(this time manually ), when it ends it will download some new pics as compare to first try, signout again, uninstall the version 1 and install version 2.1.2, do the same it will download more pics, now uninstall this version and install the newst version, and it will again download the remaining pics. now copy all the pics in one folder and overwrite/skip the same pics. doing this it you will probably get all the pics. now to make sure ur future pics downloads instantly u will need to uninstall version 3 and go back to version 1 and let it setup itself it might start photostreamdownload process again, let it do it and dont worry about anything.

so hopfully after doing this the new pics taken by us will instantly be added to photostream without any delay.

this is how i managed to fix my problem.and its working 100% perfectly.

if ur not worry about ur old pics then leave all the installation of all 3 versions, just install version 1.0.1 it will download 100-125 pics and will stop, but from this moment you will start receving pics normally.

i hope this works.

if you are familiar with windows environment variables just go to place where you can set it up and change

CLASSPATH=C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\lib\ext\QTJava.zip to CLASSPATH=C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTSystem\QTJava.zip

then change QTJAVA=C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\lib\ext\QTJava.zip to the same string as well

and put back all your compatibility runmode settings back to defaults on all icloud executables

restart your PC system, try to make new picture on your device and voila

Assuming you are referring to "My Photo Stream";

The reason is that the iCloud holds the pictures independently of the devices - you post latest pictures (automatically new pics from the iphone) from any device to the iCloud server (1000 max I think) where they are held for up to 30 days, (but that is a minimum – they can be there longer).

Any device will then download (sync) from the iCloud server.

Therefore, once posted, your pics on your iphone are independent of what’s on the iCloud.

My iCloud Control Panel 3.0 works ok (My Photo Stream) on my PC without QTJava.zip, I think that’s a red herring.

When I say "ok" it is a bit intermittent in downloading, it sometimes takes an upload (post) to trigger a download.

I've just tested deleting pics in My Photo Stream on my Ipad and they instantaneously disappeared from my PC, I was impressed!

My Photo Stream is empty with iCloud Control Panel 3.0
