iOS 7 is practically unusable on my iPhone 4, how can I downgrade?

First of all, I'm sorry if I put this in the wrong place, I'm couldn't find anywhere else where this would fit in. Anyway, a couple days ago I upgraded to iOS 7 and was almost immediatly dissapointed by how slow it ran on my iPhone 4. Texting and typing in general is a challange because there is a major delay on the keyboard. It often glitches up when I open apps, and it lags when I turn pages as well. It also seems to be very slow in sending and receiving iMessages and text messages.

Being that many of the special features were left out in the iPhone 4 version of iOS 7 anyway, I decided that I would try to downgrade and went into iTunes earlier in order to do so using the iOS 6.1.3 IPSW only to find that Apple has stopped signing iOS 6.

I am extremely upset and dissapointed by the performance of iOS 7 and angry that my iPhone is practically unusable, so I was wondering if there is any way at all that I can downgrade to iOS 6 so that my iPhone is once again usable so that I can actually enjoy contacting my friends and family.

Thanks in advance,

We have 3 iPhone 4's in our household (2 4's and 1 4s). They are all upgraded to the new ios 7 & and they are all horribly slow and nearly unusable. My son has an iPod 5 and that is doing pretty well, but that's it.

I also have 2 other friends who both have 4's and they have complained as well. In fact I serioulsy don't know of a single iPhone 4 user who is not having problems.

I'd also like to point out that none of them have ever posted on the internet about this, yet they (and we) are all having the same horrible experience.

I certainly hope Apple can put out a patch or at least allow users say a 30 day "trial" period where they can revert back to the old iOS. This makes complete sense as technology keeps ripping along, but folks only have so much disposable income. I can't afford 3 new iDevices every six months.

Regards

Hello mslow3, this is a bit of slow thread: to all I would like to say "it does not matter whether there are a lot of users having the 'slow problem' or not, here is someone that has this problem, so let us try to find a solution or at least an explanation"...

A "lot" (maybe .1% or 1% of all users) have this problem and it was already known in the beta testing period that there was a reasonable chance that it could make the iPhone 4 and 4s slow.

But since you have it installed now, you can not downgrade, like everybody here already sayd!

But you have the possibility to set the variables as optimal as can be.

read a a bit here:

I also upgraded to iOS7 and regret it.

Many people around the world are unhappy with iOS7. We are not alone.

Spread the word, more people need to tell Apple they are unhappy with iOS7 and hopefully Apple will either fix the problems or let us downgrade to iOS6.

kkellylynne, I have an iphone 4 and upgraded to iOS7 and like the others, my phone is practically unusable. Until I read your comment, I couldn't be bothered posting a complaint about this because my energy was better spent searching for a fix. I'm sure that many others feel the same or have just given up and gone and bought themselves a new iphone or switched to another phone. I can honestly say that my iphone 4 now runs slower than my friend's iphone 3GS operating on a much earlier version of iOS. Please don't attack people for voicing their legitimate iOS7 problems. The thing is, if you do a google search you will find a ridiculous amount of complaints about this issue and in my opinion and I'm sure, many others, this many complaints does warrant action from Apple. Had I been told that this might be an issue, then I would not have upgraded the operating system. Now I am left with a phone that is slower than my 3rd gen iPod touch. And yes, I have tried resetting network settings and even restoring. I just want to throw it against a brick wall everytime I look at it.

Can you imagine trying to make an emergency phone call on a phone that takes a full 5 seconds to bring up the dialer, then god knows how much longer to connect to the carrier network to start making that connection? Seems like a simple enough solution to allow those affected to revert back to iOS 6. Any reason why this is an issue Apple?

I replied with all of the same concerns as you. I think Apple decided to withdraw my comment after posting because I mentioned frustration to the point of wondering if there was a class-action suit against this conduct by Apple. My friend's iPhone 1 works better than mine even after I've done all the recommended procedures to clean up my iPhone 4. I do hope they come out with a fix or revert back to ios6. I was perfectly happy before ios7 updates and wished warnings had been expressed to iPhone 4 owners before download or at all. Now I have to buy a new phone, which at TMobile is full price! Glad you posted. Good luck!
