Wifi not working after upgrade to iOS 7

After upgrading iOS 7 on my iPhone 4S, the wifi is not working. It cannot detect any wifi nor am I able to enable wifi under settings. Is there a way for me to fix this?

Shouldn't apple check before a software upgrade that the essential parts of the phones will keep working ? Apple medium is a closed environment. You have limitted mumber of hard ware... After a major os upgrade, if WIFI is not connecting , it is called a big fiasco yet, from the posts I am reading you keep blaming the victims. I mean users...saying that they do not have the warranty etc.

It is laughable. .

When you say the 4S is not connecting, do you mean it connects to NO WiFi networks, or it connects to other networks, but not to your Home network? If it is only your Home network the problem is in your router, not the phone. Most likely the DHCP server in the router has quit, and is no longer assigning IP addresses. You can fix this easily by just rebooting the router.

If it was my router than my wifes iphone 4 would not be connecting either. So that is ruled out. There is nothing wrong with the router. It is the software of IOS 7 that is creating problems for the 4s users.

(I have multiple wifi at work at home and Iphone 4 s does not connect to any of them. Iphone 4 connects with the new os with no problems)

Apple DOES check. Tens of thousands of beta testers spent 3 months testing, and there were no systemic problems found towards the end of the beta (plenty at the beginning). 99% of the time a problem like this is specific to a single phone or a single network. And, if you actually bother to do some research before spouting off you will see that iPhone owners have periodically reported problems with WiFi that are totally independent of the iOS version that is installed, going back 7 years, and are usually easily resolved. And if you visit forums for other smartphones you will find the same types of problems. Instead of just ranting, what have you done to diagnose the problem and find a solution?

Or perhaps you personally don't have a problem and are just here to troll?

Thanks for letting me know that it worked for you too. I was afraid it was just a "fluke" that it worked for me.

For others who may want to give it a try here is the link where I found the information. http://appletoolbox.com/2013/09/ios-7-wi-fi-working-fix/

I did ALL of the steps one at a time. Then after cooling my 4s in the refrigerator (someone else's idea) I tried #6 and my 4s has been working ever since.

Cooling the 4s seems to allow the TEMPORARY wifi connection which is needed.

Totally and completely wrong. Your wife's phone has an IP address, and doesn't need to request one. Yours does need a new IP address, and the router's DHCP server has crashed. It is a VERY COMMON PROBLEM in consumer grade routers. So the first step is always to reboot the router.

If, as you say, your phone does not connect to any WiFi networks that is a different symptom. But the fact that some devices connect to a specific router and some do not proves nothing.

What steps have you taken to troubleshoot, starting with Apple's recommended diagnostic article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559

In addition to these, there are other suggestions in this thread. Have you followed through with all of them?

If you refuse to answer the basic questions so we can assist you, then why are you here?

FYI, two identical models with identical iOSs and using the same wi-fi router can have connection difficulties on one, but not the other.

And I don't blame the victims. What I do is state is that anyone DEMANDING a free replacement, when their device is outside of warranty, is expecting far too much.

My iPhone 4S worked just fine throughout the entire beta. It's worked fine after the public release. It's not the software in specific. It's the hardware defect in certain cases.

But until you do the BASIC troubleshooting steps we've recommended, then you have no basis to claim ANYTHING.

Oh, don't bother, Lawrence. Obviously, WestofNV is the premiere IT guru on the West Coast. If he says it should work, then it should work!

Thanks gentlemen.

Please do not kill the messanger just because I had a problem with my Iphone 4s.

Just like any other enduser I did my homework , read the articles, tried the solutions.

I tried all of those recommendations before posting here. At the end I have 64 gig useless iphone 4s after an innocent upgrade.

Please excuse my frustration

and wish you the best.

So what brand is your wi-fi router, and what firmware is it currently running?
