ios 7 proximity sensor not working

Okay, so I'll second the original post.

My wife's iPhone 5 64GB white had the problems since immediately after upgrading to iOS 7. No change after updating to 7.0.2.

My own iPhone 5 64GB black had no such problems for quite a while (even after upgrading to iOS 7) and only started cheek-dialling after updating to iOS 7.0.2.

Intermitting problem for me (only had it once as far as I can tell), constant problem for my wife on every single call. No cases, Artwizz screen protectors. But - the protectors have been applied well before updating to iOS 7 and have never caused any problems on iOS 6.

Oh, and, please refrain from pointing to resetting, going to Apple or anything alike. Since the phones did not have problems under iOS 6, there's no use in exchanging the phones. Resetting while keeping the firmware in place won't fix the problem either.

Basically, this post is to let Apple's support staff see that this is no longer an isolated One-in-a-million problem, but rather commonplace.

I am using iPhone 4S GSM. after updating os to iOS7 the following issues are appeared.

1. Bottom of the screen is flickering some times during getting a call.

2. After screen flicker Siri is activated automatically.

3. Touchscreen is activating during a call(when I kept my phone near to my ear). this is triggering to activate speaker phone. Proximity sensor is not working properly.... Apple!!!!!!!... fix is required ASAP............

My OS version is 7.0.2

Thanks to these kind of posts, we are able to find solutions also besides the fact that we are also indicating to Apple that there is something wrong and they need to fix it.

In my case, resetting twice was a solution and since then my phone functioned normal again. So I am glad the solution was found here, so I am at least able to use my phone normally again.

Congrats AnthyH on getting fixed up, but I am one of those who still suffers with this problem. I have tried all of the possible solutions found in this discussion board and nothing has worked for me. I sure would appreciate Apple getting a fix out for us...and FAST!

We all want the same NN2RL. Only I am stating that while we are trying to get some attention from Apple, I do not agree with you that we should need to refrain ourselves from trying to find other solutions in these forums.

I believe that's after all the whole purpose of forums right?

We are fullfilling a double purpose here: try to make Apple aware that we have an issue that needs to be fixed, but in the meanwhile, find a temporary solution for this by helping eachother out.

I have the same issue. iPhone4s updated to IOS 7.02. The proximity sensor no longer works since the update. A reset and a few restarts have not fixed the issue.

Same issue on an iPhone 5, 64GB, LTE on ROGERS in Canada. Definitely started right after IOS upgrade to 7, and still there with latest patch.

Very annoying and costing me money due to dropped calls, wasted time with customers, unreliable communications in general.

I recently upgraded my iPhone 5 (MD642C/A) to ios7, and started experience proximity sensor issues. In essence whereas before using the "Phone App" and bringing the phone to my ear/side of face the sensor would behave as expected and turn off the screen and disable input. Now randomaly this does not seem to work consistently anymore. I have had many instances where while in a call and holding the phone to my face/ear I end up activating mute, or facetime or speaker phone and it seems to be due to the proximity sensor and the software controlling it not working as it did before in ios6. I can only guess something has changed at the software level or that the software that interacts with the proximity sensor is being impacted by other things running in the new ios7. I've disabled Siri to see if that makes a difference but it never caused an issue in io6 and disabling it should not be a permanent fix -- I've yet to use the phone enough to confirm if disbaling Siri addresses this bug.

iPhone 4s here proximity sensor also not working since iOS 7 installed, no problems prior to that. Tried the suggested by resetting settings and restarting phone twice but no luck. I didnt try disabling Siri as I use it too frequently that this isnt really an option for me. Theres no reason that we should have to disable one core function to make another core function to work properly.

I sent an email to Apple about this bug as well.

I too have started having this issue on my iPhone 4S (AT&T) since upgrading to iOS 7. It never occurred before with over 2 yrs use of this phone. It's not on every call for me, just randomly some. I've had number press (hear audible beeps during the call), I've had it switch to Speaker phone mode, and today it turned on FaceTime! This is a very annoying bug that needs to be resolved ASAP!

Having the exact same issue!!! Annoying and a Major bug,

Does the proximity problem only happen to whom with raise to speak enabled ?

Power off three times,

rebooting three times,

turn Siri off,

Turn, raise to speak to Siri off,

reset all settings.

Nothing worked. iPhone 5 16GB, proximity worked fine for a year until upgrade to ios7.

Upgraded to ios7.02, repeat the list, still no joy.

I look like an idiot using my phone tilting it away from my face so I do not press any buttons. I still find a way to hit one.
