Hi. I'm using an iPhone 5c with a hard case and have only started having this problem (within the last three months). When I'm on a call, my phone will switch to Face Time, push a number, mute, etc.) at any given time. It happens EVERY time I'm on a call. Why?

What top button? Be more specific!
razmee209's response from 4 years ago made a difference in other phones, not the newer ones. Besides that, the operation does not work that way any longer. They were referring to the sleep/wake button, but if you do that now, it will hang up the call. If you are having issues with the screen blanking while in a call, then you need to have the device looked at since the proximity sensor is not working properly.
hit the top button of your phone to lock it while on a call.
Do you have a case or screen portector on your phone? One or both may be occluding your proximity sensor.
I do use a case. Lifeproof case what should I do? I really don't want to have to hit the top button for every call.
And it's weird because I've had the same case and never had the problem before the upgrade lol
Which phone were you using the Lifeproof on and which phone are you using it on now?
Same iphone5 and Lifeproof case. No change except the update. I haven't removed the case recently either.
remove it, try the phone without
You will have your answer
Thanks I will try that.
The reason I ask, my son has an iPhone 5, and is on his second replacement of a Lifeproof case. One had trouble with the screen access, and the second one had trouble with the sound when talking on the phone. When he talked, the sound was very tinny and difficult to understand. This replacement now works fine, sound is good and he can access all parts of the phone screen. It is possible something is wrong with the case front. If it works after removing the case as III recommended, then I would contact Lifeproof and report it to them. They may replace the case at no charge.
good idea
good luck
Thanks. And it was because of the forum here that we were able to take care of it. When a number of people reported being unable to end a call because the screen would not react to the touch of the end button, someone reported Lifeproof acknowledged the problem. I got him to call and they replaced the case. When he got the new case, it started alright but then the audio coming from his calls was terrible. He took it on himself to call Lifeproof again and then gladly sent him another case, and he said you could clearly see a physical difference in the old and new case. He said he thinks they said it had something to do with blocking the extra mic that has something to do with the noise cancelling.
Me too - my face keeps hitting mute or speaker or end while I'm talking. Has only happened since I upgraded to iOS7. Seems to be worse when the call is outgoing. Can anyone help? I don't want to have the change the way I talk on the phone.
If you read the post, a number of troubleshooting steps were listed there. Have you tried any of them?
