This has repeatedly happened to me. The FaceTime button keeps getting pushed during a call. I don't use a Lifeproof case, and when I push the top button to try to make the display turn off during a call, it disconnects the call. I have tried several different cases to try to solve the problem, but it keeps happening. It didn't start until the upgrade. It seems that the FaceTime button is in the exact spot where my face is during a call. I have disabled FaceTime in Settings>Restrictions for now to stop it, but I wish Apple would address this in an update, as I enjoy FaceTime.

You mention that you do not use a Lifeproof case, but do you use a case at all? The proximity sensor is what controls the screen going off during a call. Do you have a screen protector on the phone? Some cases and/or screen protectors can disrupt the function of the proximity sensor.

If you have a case on the phone, trying taking the phone out of the case and try the call. See if that changes the behavior. If so, then it is the case. Have you done any user troubleshooting? The steps are restart (power phone off/on), reset(hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot), restore from a backup, and if necessary restore as new. Testing after each of these steps. If these do not work, then it is possible that you have a hardware issue and should make an appointment at the Genius bar to have the device checked.

You do not indicate what model phone or iOS that you are using, so I am not sure if it is in warranty.

My issue is the exact same lol FaceTime is being activated almost every time I make/take a call. I have tried all of the suggestions....I have tried different cases etc and it still happens. I have had my iphone5 since October 2012 and never had this issue until I updated to ISO7. It is unreasonable to expect people to not use a case with their $700+ phones.

I have the exact same issue with my 4s. Same case for nearly 2 years (and yes it is designed for a 4s). Problem only started after iOS7 was installed. I agree with "nigelu" in that I think it seems slow to shutdown the screen as you lift the phone to your ear. I say this because the phone feels slower in general since the update to iOS7. I have not tried to turn off the "raise to speak" feature yet, but this should be addressed as a fix not a workaround.

I have a 4s that never had this problem until after I did the ios7 update. Same case as I was using before and yes it is a good quality case made for this model and phone. Also, I have never had "raise to speak/siri" on. Help! I am constantly muting calls, turning on facetime, or pushing buttons... The other day I even accidentally called someone in a three-way call!

PLEASE APPLE, fix this! PLEASE!!! I'm on my knees begging you! 😢

I had this problem with my Iphone 4 and now just got the Iphone 5, and everytime I receive or call my cheek hits the mute button. I tried to turn off the screen, but I lost the call. I had a case on the Iphone 4, and I don't have a case yet for the Iphone 5. So, it is not the case. Also, someone said something about a sensor???? The Iphone5 does not have a case so that wouldn't be bother the sensor. This is so frustrating!
