Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
After updating from ios 6 to ios 7, i already experience a horrible battery life..am i the only one? I already tried the ones i read in the web such as turn off the parallax etc. but still my ip5's battery still *****.can u please sight your comments here.how many hours pf usage and standby your iphone can have now that it is ios7 vs ios6?
Before i can have 8 hrs usage and 12 hrs standby..
Now, ican only have 3 to 4 hrs usage with 4hrs staandby

Same issue here. iPhone 5, worked fine in ios6, typically 2days of battery life. Updated to ios7, crapped out completely. Now on 7.0.4, every tip applied, battery 6-7 hours with same usage as before.
A week ago, I went to the Applestore in Stockholm, Sweden. The ran their tests and told me "no hardware problem". So no replacement despite it's still under warranty. I'd have to wait for a software update. That was 24h after I updated to 7.0.4.
Four days ago, turned off Findmyiphone, gave me about three hours more per day(!). But now the thing is essentially just a cheap brick that can take calls.
Yesterday I took a six-hour flight in Europe, and decided to comply with the rules and turn it off completely (not Flight mode).
As I turned it on I noticed battery had gone from 53% to 18%. While off!
I've also tried force-quitting it (press and hold both buttons). No difference, the ios7 battery worm is still happily chewing away my iPhone 5 battery, phone on or off.
This is not funny.
TThis might sound stupid but we were having similar issues. Three iPhone 5's in our house and an iPad. Some with battery drain and others receiving "accessory not optimized" messages. We have replaced all our charging leads and hey presto! "Apparently" there are new leads on the market advertised to be ios7 compatible. Wether it's a marketing ploy I don't know. But we even went to the extreme of replacing a battery in my mums iPhone 5's to only have the same issue. Yesterday bought a new charging lead and today is holding charge. It was draining a whole battery over night just sitting idle. This morning she has made calls and played games and it's sitting at 95% still. 🙂 I hope this works for everyone else. A simple fix!!!!!!
Sorry but this is BS. The cables have nothing to do with the battery drain, as long as you're using Apple original cables.
If you choose not to believe it then that is your opinion. I am not using genuine cables now and not having an issue. I was receiving the messages using genuine cables. My partners iPad which we just updated is now doing the same thing with genuine cables. The update has affected people in different ways. If u chose to think its BS then go ahead but I was just sharing my experience and how I have resolved it so it may be helpful to someone else.
I'm not using apples genuine cables ether I had to buy one that supported ios7 because I had problems with the original ones I think the new cables work fine!! No need to attack some one for suggesting something to help others it's in all our best interest to help find out the faults and fix problems.. There is discussions in the apple community about this issue. Hope it helps others.
Cables have nothing to do with the phone holding a charge. However, Apple has been, and will be, releasing anti-piracy cable ident (original ones have a chip inside), disabling fake cable functionality. IOS7 was the first to implement this. Apple replaced, free, two chinese fakes with two genuine cables worth 50$. Anyhow, fakes no longer work well, people etting electrocuted with fakes prompted Apple to step in (although making more $ was likely more of a factor).
I finally got a new iphone 5 at the Applestore, as a replacement for the one that ios7 whipped.
This one works fine. With the same old Apple cables. YMMV.
