After ios7 upgrade iphone weather app gives wrong current temp. Rest of info and forecast seems ok
iPhone 4S, iOS 7
I agree. In this case it was quite obvious the weather app was set in Fahrenheit and not in Celsius as 18°C ~ 64F (technically Fahrenheit doesn't use the degree (°) symbol even though Apple's app does 😏)
However the initial comment still applies, this app occasionally "gets stuck" somehow and will show incorrect temperature for whatever reason?
Have you turned on cellular data for the weather app?
What does the Weather.com app say vs. Yahoo?
Fair enough Felipe, sorry if I overloaded you with sarcasm, I tend to be very logical and sometimes go overboard with it.
Yes, I've tried that too.
Right now weather.com is showing 35F (~2°C).
Yet myy iphone 5S is still stuck on 32F (0°C), and it has been showing the same temperature for weeks now.
I really hope someone will come up with a real solution and put the temperature tests to rest. If you see my initial post there's no doubt something isn't working, not sure if it's the iphone itself or Yahoo's app but there is no place on earth that has had a constant, never changing temperature for weeks at a time. Yet that's exactly what my iphone implies, a never changing temperature of 32F or 0°C.
Your next step in Restoring the phone in iTunes from your Backup and if that doesn't work then Restore it as a new iPhone and manually load your backup. And if that fails use your warranty. Not knowing your other issues I would lean towards skipping the Restores and using your warranty.
I restored my iphone about 3 weeks ago just like you described. Haven't restored it as a new iphone because it's such an incredible pain. I've done it before and even with me using icloud etc it's a major inconvenience. I have numerous guitar lesson videos on my phone and also guitar lesson tracks on an app called AnyTune and every time I've done a restore, I had to recreate my tracks which is super inconvenient and time consuming (the app creates specific practice loops where perfect timing is of essence).
I've browsed the forums and there seems to be a plethora of iphone users with the same problem and the majority of the posts started with the iOS 7 so I'm hoping there will be some kind of fix for this issue. My iphone works great otherwise so I don't see why I should have to use my apple care warranty to get a new one?
Some other things I'd tried:
- I deleted all the cities I had for my weather app and then reselected them again (I travel for a living so I have always had many cities within the app).
- I've turned the weather app Location services ON. I've also turned them OFF, no difference.
What's interesting is that all the other cities show the correct temp EXCEPT my hometown? Case in point, I'm writing from Hong Kong and app is showing a temperature of 70F (21°C). Weather.com shows the exact same temp of 70F.
A sample of other cities selected on the app (and they all show the correct temp according to weather.com:
New York -> 25F (-4°C)
Bangkok, Thailand -> 75F (24°C)
Dubai, UAE -> 61F (16°C)
Frankfurt, Germany -> 37F (3°C)
Those and other cities on my app are ALL correct. My hometown Nashville, Tn has been stuck on 32F or 0°C for weeks and weeks. Surely this cannot be a defect phone when all cities are correct except one??
Given your description, and I assume the other cities you have listed are changing throughout the day, then sounds like a problem with Yahoo. There is nothing in iOS 7 that would cause one city it one app where the data and app is provided by Yahoo to freeze.
Appreciate the replies and yes, they all update throughout the day EXCEPT this one city?
I've emailed the standard "contact us" link on yahoo's website, no response so far. Can you think of any other email address for them?
Hallelujah!!!
No idea if my repeated emails to yahoo helped or if something else changed but as of 15 minutes ago the temperature for my home town updated itself to the actual temp of 25F (-4°C).
I'm still shocked because as I said it's been weeks and weeks of it showing 32F (0°C)!
AWESOME!!!!! :-)
Not anymore, seems to be back at 32 again. (when it's 61, hello TN weather)
I'll try my shot with emailing them, though doubtful it will help at all.
You're right, it's back to 32F (0°C) ?!?!?! :-(
Having the same problem here. The forecast for the next hour is correct. The weather has updated because the time is correct. But the current weather shows 32 always. It's been doing this for about a month and will occasionally fix itself for a short time only to go back to 32 again.
Yeah, it's frustrating!!! Yesterday it fixed itself for an hour or so and then it went back to 32. :-(
Earlier today it showed the correct temp of 56F for a few hours and then just like that it went back to 32F. That's the temp it's showing right now...
Still no response from yahoo. Maybe I should email them again...
Very frustrating. BTW the weather is right if I just go to yahoo and look it up but the weather app is stuck on 32. I've updated it, deleted my city (smyrna tn) and added it back, restarted phone, nothing makes a difference.
For the last 24 hours the temp has been correct?!?! Have they finally fixed it?
Mine still says 32 :( as of this morning anyway.
