Bugs in reminder app - iOS 7

Is anyone else having bugs with the reminder app since they've upgraded to iOS7? For background info, I use reminders all the time in the "Today" mode, which is now the little clock icon mode.

Issues I'm having:

1. Sometimes Reminders won't even load. I just get a black screen. Removing the app by double tapping the home button and swiping it closed doesn't even work - only restarting my entire phone fixes the problem.

2. When I add a reminder to the bottom of the day, it actually changes my previous reminder in the list. For example, I'll have the day list like this:

10am Email Fred

11am Pick up dry cleaners

7pm Gift for Nancy

If I add a new task like "Put out garbage bins at 8am" by clicking below Gift for Nancy, I end up getting two versions of "Put out garbage" - one at 7am, and one replacing Gift for Nancy at 7pm. I hope that makes sense.

3. I cannot add a task easily for days past tomorrow. Say I want to add a task for next Thursday. In the last version, I'd click on the date at the bottom of the screen and then just add the task. Now when I scroll down to Thursday, I can only edit the last task in the list, not add a new one. I have to create a new task for Today or Tomorrow and then manually edit it for Thursday. This is an annoying extra step, but not as bad as the first two bugs.

I hope developers at Apple see this - it's a big bummer that my most used app after email and messages is so broken right now 😟

Otherwise, I really like the style of the app and the convenience of the swipe from the bottom access to most common settings! I do get a little dizzy seeing the background move compared to the apps when I move the phone, but I imagine that most people don't get nausea as easily as I do!

The biggest issue I have is with tasks "disappearing"...they're not marked complete, they are deleted. It does appear to be the same bug as Howard72 reports.

From what I have experienced, it has happened a few times when I add a new task (by touching the space at the end of the last task listed in the SCHEDULED view) and then I attempt to edit another existing task in the same list. When I hit return, a task will disappear. The deleted task is usually in the vicinity of the added/edited tasks.

This does not always happen, but sometimes. It's disturbing.

And yes, the reminders app also crashes frequently and I find the overall design not very useful.

I would suggest reporting bugs to http:www.apple.com/feedback. I have sent them crash reports about Reminders, as well as bug reports and feature requests to bring back iOS 6 features (like being able to swipe from one list to another).

For example, when I check Notification Center for my Reminders, it will display the same reminder three times. The reminder is only listed in one list, one time. If I search on a word in the reminder, it is displayed three times in the search results.

I have had to stop using Reminders, which is frustrating because the iOS 6 version was a great app.

I just downloaded iOS7 to my iPhone 4 (have been waiting to upgrade to a larger screen closer to Galaxy size, Apple). Anyway, all went well until I checked Reminders. I had all sorts of categories set up in iOS6 that had been working well; now can't get into the Notes section at bottom to edit. Cursor jumps around, goes several lines down, and keyboard pops up, getting in the way.

Glad to see I'm not the only one going crazy trying to use it. Don't they run these upgrades by "normal" users before worldwide release?! Does Apple read these comments and respond. I'm going to have to re-enter everything somewhere else....

Yeah man, definitely not just you. They screwed up the Reminders (and Notes) to epic prepositions. They should fire the head of what department developed this app or force him/her to issue an apology, as they did with the Maps fail.

IOS7 Reminders are totally unusable; I have to access my laptop now to use them properly. Don't fix what isn't broken; especially in the name of design, when the design is ugly!

Agree. Use reminders a lot during the day, and it was easy to organize them by day with ios6. Now it's a very cumbersome process, to reveiw multiple reminders during the day, and to add reminders. I did figure out that, to organize reminders by date, you had to tap the clock in the upper-right-hand corner of the screen, once you pulled down the appropriate reminders list tab (carefully). Today that function is not working. In retrospect I wish I would not have upgraded to ios7, simply because of what it did to the reminders app. I like the iphone, but if the reminder app isn't fixed I may have to look at other phones...

Agreed. This is the first time I am truly thinking of switching to another phone; probably Android; probably Google's new phone. I can live with the IOS7 changes; I can adapt to new ways of doing stuff. But I can't deal with totally broken Reminders and Notes apps; they're an integral part of my daily workflow and are completely broken, and it's been over two weeks with no fix.

They can fix a minor lock screen security bug, but these problems seem to run much deeper; Reminders can't be fixed with a mere patch up, it needs somewhat of a reversion to the old design (where is the calendar, etc?). It doesn't match up at all. Perhaps it's meant to match up with a redesign in Mavericks, which, if the case, would be quite unfortunate.
