Can't send any e-mails today. Yesterday everything worked just fine.......How can I fix this?
Windows 8
This was driving me nuts for the past few days. I kept deleting my me.com account in Windows Mail and re-creating it 5x. Did not think there was any way it was an Apple issue. Well, it was. Changed the outgoing smtp server to p06-smtp.mail.me.com and it worked like a charm! :-) Thanks all!
Amazing how Apple can buy many countries in the world if they were for sale, and cant' even get their mail servers straight. Please read my Apple discussion https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5333809 and provide your feedback. Here's another example of how apple is clueless on many of their products.
Thanks - :-)
Awsome!!! thanks! everything is working now...
p06 worked for me. Many Thanks
Thank you.
Finally p06- worked :-) - but I hat to put it befor imap..... and smtp.... as well. So XP and Outlook Express are ok so far.
Second (I have two Virtual Machines) problem ist the same with Window 8 and Windows Mail - none of your proposals worked there. Any Idea??
I spoked to Parallels Support yesterday night (India) and they could not solve the problem and told me to call Microsoft. So I called Microsoft right now - they told me: Microsoft Operating Systems are not meant to run on Parallels and therefore all Support is in Hands of Parallels. This Microsoft "Gentlemen" was very friendly and quittet middle of our conversation without saying "thanks" or "good bye".
Anyway, Parallels always is ver friendly and helpful with there services - so I hope they will fix the problem soon.
But somehow I think it is not a Prob of Parallels - or was there a new Parallels Update which caused this Problem? - I can´t remember.
Yours Peter
Thank you! p06-smtp.mail.me.com worked for me too!
p06-smtp.mail.me.com - worked for me, many thanks.
I can't imagine why this should have happened in the first place. Why -O-Why do they have to mess up something that simply just works and the vast majority want left well alone?
This worked for me, thanks for sharing. But really it shouldn't be this complicated. Apple needs to get their **** together and either provide solutions that work or give it up. Having an email that works for a while doesn't for a long while and then works again without any changes is rediculous.
I use EvoCam to have my security cameras send an automatic e-mail when motion is detected. The e-mail piece has been working fine for months, then stopped with a username/password error. The developer turned me on to this discussion and I made the suggested change and voilá, everything started to work.
Not sure why Apple's alias stopped working (DNS error on their part??) but using p06-smtp.mail.me.com definitely fixed the issue for me. BTW, my regular e-mail client is working fine using smtp.mac.com. Hmm, go figure.
I have tried all of this and still not working. I get this error message from OUTLOOK
Send test e-mail message: Cannot send the message. Verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The server responded: 530 5.7.0 No AUTH command has been given.
Any ideas, this is driving me mad. My email still works fine on my Android Phone. I am limted with my emails now and have to use the web based email system apple provides which is a complete bugger to use as its not linked with my outlook setup.
Any help is much appreciated
Hello,
Like Jonathan, I tried everything that was suggested and it still does not work. It is quite incomprehensible. Do you have any other ideas?
Thank you in advance,
I just solved my problem. In the "Outgoing Server" tab I checked "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" instead of "to connect with."
It's pretty weird that it changes anything because I entered exactly the same username and the same password for the incoming mail server, but the main thing is that it works now.
Here is the visual summary of my setup (sorry it's in French):
You are a life saver Antoine119, it worked thanks so much for your help. I have spent nearly a month trying to get it working. I copied exactly what you have very kindly taken screenshots of. Thanks again
The new SMTP server name resolved my iCloud SMTP Authentication problem. Thanks 🙂
Don't bother changing the server name, just remove the "@me.com" portion from your account name. All other setting can remain the same. This is safer than chaning the server name to an alias which Apple isn't suggesting you use.
