charging iphone since ios7

Has anyone experienced problems charging their phone since the ios7 software upgrade?

Even the cable my iphone came with does not charge it - luckily I bought a spare cable off ebay - one that is not apple genuine and this is the only one that works! Well it charges it but doesn't work 100% as it gets to 100% charged but never says battery full - just wants to keep charging it. I have 3 genuine iphone 5 cables that won't charge my phone now and only this one cable will charge it 😟 Anyone have any suggestions??

Also when you select an image for wallpaper - it comes up enlarged - it says to 'move and scale' but you can only make the image bigger you can't decrease it so you can actually see it all on the screen - you only get a portion of the picture now - anyone else finding this?

Other than this I think ios7 is really good 😉

Since my post on 1-4 GF said her phone has been charging normally. So could it be that the update only confussed the charging ciricuty/ battery memory and my workaround I found reset it somehow and now its fixed and working. Only other explaination I can come up with is coincidence that a spec of fuzz was in slot and it happened to decide to fall out at that time. I hope someone with same problem can repeat my solution and post results if it worked or not.

This issue has reached a point that Apple needs to step up and address it, period. As a loyal Apple fan since my CX world, this has by far been the biggest screw up Apple has done. If they are trying to stop 3rd party cables from being used, what they are actually doing is making thier loyal customers look elsewhere for products and solutions. Like many out there, I have tried the orginal cables and chargers and regret that the results are still unstable and inconsistant. I have tried all the so called fixes with no real success.. We HAD 5 Iphones and 2 Ipad2 and 3 Mac Book Pro's in the family. Since this debakule, we now have 1 Ipad 2 and 3 Iphones with 2 more about to cross into the dark side to Samsung. My wife and daughter have already crossed over with NO problems, LOVE thier new phones and have converted at least 7 friends to buy Samsung. Apple is missing the message here. Acknowledge the issue, fix the issue or continue to lose customers. you want to lose a little revenue from accessories such as cables or high 6 figures in revenue as customers leave

modular747 I am a technician who repairs iPhones for a living, since the update and the change in how the USB charger communicates with the phone it seems that early batches of official and many third party (certificated or not) have indeed stopped working.

Hi, Want to give update on my Girl Friends phone. Its working great now. I bought a new cable from K-mart and I turnded things off I got from a FB posting. It was not the same cable that was mentioned before that worked. I do not know if this is a cirtified 3rd party cable or not. I'm sorry, I don't remember the name of it. I will try to get name and edit this post when I do. My theory goes like this. The update added new features which are nice but are battery killers with their power use, which explains some folks complaing of battery not staying charged. Now, the not charging to begin with is cable is made up of a bunch of small wires instead of 1 large wire (Keep in mind I'm guessing based on some knowledge but not based on facts). I think some of them small wires was broke in her cable so it still charged some but could not carry full amperage to do the job. So what happened was power hungry update sucked up power as fast as it came in. That explains why when when it was turned off it would charge but problem with that phone kept powering itself back on until I turned off options like the push notifications.

RoloEater, I would be grateful to hear your input on my therory. As far as Apple messing up and making loosing a lot of customers, my thoughts also at first but than my 2nd thoughts was maybe not. Yes, they are loosing customers but how many customers not that know nothing about computers/phones will run out and buy brand new Iphone. Could even be kickbacks from cell carriers to get the phone upgrades to restart the 2 year contract.

Well, today is a very sad day for me. I have finally reached the point that after some 20 plus years of being a loyal Apple fan and supporter (phones, computers, printers, IPads, etc), I am DONE WITH APPLE!!. This whole charge issue has pushed me over the edge. As I have posted in previous, my family was once an ALL IPhone family starting back with the Iphone 3. Because of this IOS7 charge mess, some family members lost confidence and patience and left months back, but i tried to defend and make excuses for Apple. Today was the final straw. After several months of trying over 13 different cables and chargers, yes even paid the over inflated price for a new APPLE cable and Charger, which did nothing but drain my wallet, I still have an Iphone that looks pretty and that I have to fight with for over 30 plus minutes each time it needs charging. I get the pleasure of plugging and unplugging, dismissing and dismissing, and after many frustrating attempts, it might begin to charge. If not I continue the crappy process again until I get it to work. On occasion, it might even reach 75% before it decides to give me that dreaded not supported message again. I regret that I can no longer be in denial and must purchaser a phone and a company that I can feel confident in. I am sorry Steve, Maybe if you were still around Apple would have dealt with this issue. .

I agree its a sad day and one that Apple will regret as it is happening all over the place. The good news is, having bought a Samsung Galaxy Note, where you can access the file structure and copy files from a pen drive its great once you have made the change. I agree, with your final thought, come back Steve and sort this lot out.

Im sick to death of this BS from Apple. I upgraded from an iPhone 4S to a 5 knowing that I would have to replace all my cables and accessories at huge expense. I did not bank on further complication from a megalomaniac corporation suddenly deciding to ban about 90% of the cables out there.

How is this fair for the consumer? How many iPhone users have experienced issues due to a non-Apple cable in the past? I can tell you it will be close to zero.

So Apple seem to have no only wormed their way around the EU laws around common charging connector by introducing yet another completely proprietary connector, but they have now created an environmental disaster by writing off 90% of third party cables. In the process attacking small businesses just to line their pockets further.

When will the monopolies commission finally step? No corporation, no matter how large should operate unethically like this. This is exactly how MS used to behave and were punished. Apple are no better.

It's inaccurate to say that third party chargers and cables do not meet Apple's specifications. I'm sure that 90% do. The reason these cables will not charge is simply because the cable is not 'certified'.

Apple cables have a certification chip in the lightening connector - http://www.gizmochina.com/2012/09/26/apple-added-authentication-chip-to-stop-thi rd-parties-making-cheaper-versions-iphone-5-accesories/

If a company does not go through the certification process with Apple, they are not given the authority via the chip authentication. Some cable manufacturers have circumvented this certification chip but Apple will no doubt counter this with each future IOS upgrade meaning your cables may work one day but not the next. Fasten your seat belts folks as this will now become the norm and I fear is just the tip of the iceberg. Apple has started yet another cat and mouse game but this time not with Jailbreakers, with cable manufacturers. We as consumers are the ones that suffer sadly.
