In iOS 7, Safari crashes often, especially with YouTube videos

No, you're not alone. This problem has been constant since the iOS 7 upgrade. It is ruining the experience of browsing and I wish Apple would get it sorted.

No, you're not alone, it's been happening since I upgraded to IOS 7, every time I peruse the comments on their CiF board Safari crashes, really frustrating, wish I never upgraded.

Yep, same here on ipad using both chrome and safari. Have removed and reinstalled YouTube app but no change. Get it sorted.

Just go to the site and start zooming in and out and it crashes to desktop every time. Oddly, it doesn't crash until I adjust the zoom, though.

The site does have some animated scrolling windows and links to videos, so perhaps it is still related to video?

Yep, using ipad to browse Guardian with IOS 7 is practically impossible. Sample web page: http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2013/oct/11/genetics-teaching-gove-adviser. Just try scrolling through the comments. I can only assume they are using some fancy JavaScript.

I'm with you. Can't scroll down to the comments or expand comments without Safari crashing. Useless...

It happens to me, particularly on the Guardian CIF with Safari, Chrome and Mercury. Something wrong with Guardian or Apple iOS. Very annoying!

Same here, Guardian is the worst site, both Chrome and Safari have low memory events associated with these crashes if you look in diagnostics, Apple must know about this by now. There were no problems under iOS 6 so iOS 7 is the most likely suspect.

So... a pattern appears to be forming - it's knackered.

Any chance of a fix?

Must be a month since I joined the chorus here: it's still a fact - embedded youtube video just don't play on IOS7 until you've clicked once on the red arrow, twice on the silvery arrow - I mean, how can apple and/or youtube live with that?!

By the way, Safari crashing when zooming appears on several other sites than Guardian...annoying too

Last night after upgrading to iOS 7.0.3 Safari was crashing every time I went to the Guardian home page. No browsing or anything, couldn't load it. In fact just typing the name in the URL bar and having the history come up was enough to make it crash before I'd even gone there!

I downloaded Chrome and that was ok which is strange because I thought they shared the same rendering engine.

Yes, I upgraded last night hoping for the best, but I soon as I went on to the Guardian CiF website the scrolling through comments kept grinding to a halt, the page would 'hang', then judder down to the next comment until eventually it crashed. It seems worse now...

C'mon Apple, sort this out.

With all the comments about the Guardian website, I've found it is always when looking at the comments. As soon as I get to them everything gets jerky, and trying to expand threads crashes the app a lot. This is usually with the browser built into other apps (tweetbot and Facebook - would that be safari?)

Bugger grauniad and its readers - it's youtube that's FUBAR! 😠
