Why does the iPhone insist on ruining my experience?

It was me who turned off my Wi-Fi and I know why I did it at the moment.

What perverse reason does Apple have for questioning my choices?

Go into Settings>Privacy>Location Services>Camera and then turn that off. That will turn location services off for the camera only, not anythng else. The location error is due to the fact the camera is trying to add your location to the EXIF data in the picture and it is telling you that wifi will improve that end. Just turn off location services to the camera. All done.

I also read through the thread and felt a relief knowing that I'm not the only one hating this stupid message.

I absolutely want the camera to tag my photos with the location, if it is available, no matter the accuracy.

Another similar issue is when I have turned off Cellular data for an app that uses data connection only for loading content for ads. Every time I open the app when wifi is not connected, it shows me a popup message telling that "Cellular Data is Turned Off for xxxx. You can turn on cellular data for this app in Settings." And lets me choose from 'Settings' and 'OK'. What on earth?! I have delibarately turned the cellular data off, I know it already and I do not want to see the message every time!

Come on Apple, do something about these stupid UX bugs you have in your device!

No, that does not resolve the issue. Most people do want this service, we just don't want to be badgered when we choose to turn wi fi off. It takes 2 interactions to turn off wi-fi and 6 + unlocking to turn off this service (if can actually remember the next time around without taking notes).

The overall point is we want a way to dismiss this message permenantly as we know the implications of wifi being off. However, we DO want to utilize the service when wifi is enabled.

I too am infuriated by this.

I find using location services useful, however, when wifi isn't available to me (most of the time) I don't need a reminder again and again.

On top of this issue, has anyone else now noticed that if you do have wifi on you get the message informing you that turning on Bluetooth will improve accuracy? I foresee this may have something to do with the upcoming iBeacons that will monitor our every move but, for the moment, why would I destroy the small battery life I have leaving Bluetooth on permanently so I may get pinpointed while taking a picture that I missed cancelling the previous notifications?

i've got the same issue. for years I've pushed it aside.. but now i really can't take it!! "Location Accuracy" haunts me. It pops up in my dreams.. in the shower.. when I'm enjoying ice cream.

i HATE that the notification pops up when i open Maps. And for all the smarty pants that think they know the answer (i.e. Settings > Privacy > Location Services > specific app).. Why would one turn off "Location Services" for maps? I would like to keep my "service of location".. just WITHOUT WiFi.

If there's an Apple God.. please have mercy.

At a lot of locations you have to click "Agree" before using their WiFi.. either by A.) arduously waiting for.. yes.. a "notification" to pop-up or B.) going to the website of your current location and then toggling through their WiFi login.

At other locations where "descent" WiFi is present, but private, it will prompt you for the password (especially at Hospitals, Schools, government buildings, airports, etc).. and for some reason passwords and public information never go together. > So then you have to wait for WiFi to switch to a "less descent" public WiFi (if available).. WHICH IS USUALLY SLOWER THAN LTE/G4.

See my friend!!.. has nothing to do with battery.. more about efficiency and waisted time!

That's nonsense. Scanning for WiFi most certainly uses battery, do you think its magic that it knows to connect to your known networks? Besides, poor WiFi reception also drains the battery faster compared to mobile signal if that's of proper quality.

Its true that WiFi uses less battery when there's a good signal, certainly saves battery. But keeping WiFi on whilst you're not in range of your network is a pure waste of battery and absolutely causes a drain. Which makes total sense by the way...
