Why won't my songs transfer from itunes to my iphone?

When I plug in my phone into my computer and try to sync my playlists on iTunes to my iPhone, the sync completes but the songs will not transfer. I even tried deleting the existing playlists from my iPhone and I couldn't even do that. I have literally tried everything that I know. Any suggestions?

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.2

I figured it out! A million hours later and 4 in the morning but I figured it out. So I did everything updated my iPhone 7 newest software same w iTunes on my windows computer everything. Nothing worked. Until I had to go to my actual iPhone go to settings, music, then turn off iCloud Music Library and enable home sharing. Then once I did that I went back onto my computer went to iTunes and synced manually. All I did was on iTunes go to your phone section and click sync. Once I did so I was then able to add music. I dragged the music to the device and it was finally added. I domt know what's going on w apple and why it's become so much harder to sync music. It was so much easier back in the day. Anywho I'm just glad I finally figured it out. Now I can listen to my hypnobirthing tracks on my phone.

darcyw77: on your iDevice goto your Settings App-> Music


2 questions: is "Show All Music" turned on or off? and Under "Home Sharing" does it show login request or does it have your Apple ID?


I haven't tried this in person because I'm way from my main iTunes Library Computer, but I would assume that by turning off "Home Sharing" then Syncing your iDevice would encourage the device to physically pull the songs/videos that were purchased or downloaded from the computer to your iDevice vs wanting to "Airplay" it when your at home around your main Library.


This could also help finalnichols too. Please check your the "Home Sharing" settings and let me know if this helps!

Bonjour!


L'option "partagé" apparait dans le menu "autre" qui est accessible en bas à droite de l'application musique sur l'iphone.


Mais cette option "partagé" n'apparait que quand tu es connecté en wifi sur le même réseau wifi que ton mac/pc et que itunes est ouvert sur ton mac/pc. Donc cela ne résoud pas notre problème de synchronisation.


J'espère que quelqu'un trouvera une solution ou que Apple se réveillera pour corriger ces bugs sur ios7/itunes11.

Along the bottom I have Genres, Playlists, Artists, Songs and More. The More buttom just shows me the iTunes Radio. Where in the heck is the Shared option?? I assume this has something to do with the newest updates to the IOS on the iPhone. I'll bet that over 60% of my songs are no longer accessible on my iPhone. Really, really, really getting frustrating.

Unfortunately this doesn't solve the problem for me because when you allow the shared option you have to be closed to your mac/pc to enjoy your songs on your iphone. When you are not, you will see that no songs were added on your iphone.


Apple: what are you doing to fix this bug? (And another bug: i can't no longer download the songs i've purchased on the itunes store from the music app...)

I just tried the Home Sharing suggestion. I don't have Share on my More in the Music App. You should to to Apple Customer Support and open a formal ticket. You might need to open one for you iPhone, too. This is not getting solved by discussing in the Support Community.


I opened a ticket a week or so ago. I stayed on the phone for an hour before I told them I had to go. Some of my music got on my phone from the cloud. But, there is music I loaded from CD's that I own that is trying to come to me through the cloud now. They insisted they would help me download my music, but did not acknowledge an Apple issue, and said it couldn't be because of iOS7.


I can't transfer my Christmas music back to my phone, and I sure won't be buying any iTunes until this is resolved.

Sorry all for the delay.


As other have mentioned, yes, the "Shared" option only comes up when your near your main iTunes library.


After multiple attempts and "tweaks", I finally gave in and did a complete backup, dump and re sync. I did it the same day that 7.0.4 came out so I figured what's waiting a little while longer and just reinstall everything.


While I consider this the ultimate "Hail Mary"/Desperation call, I was able to get my missing songs on my actual iPhone.


Don't know if the update had anything to do with it (doubtful) but it does get rid of the grey circles on some of your songs and I finally have my recently purchases MMLP2 CD in my library.


PLEASE NOTE: I haven't added any new songs to my library since doing the dump->Sync, so I don't know if moving forward we're good...

Pretty sure everyone has figured this out but just in case. The answer is simple:


Go to iTunes on the Mac and connect your iPhone. Let it finish it's basic synch.

Select your iPhone by clicking on the "your name"iPhone button (not the eject, just the left side of the button). This takes you to the main settings control for how your iPhone connects to your Mac. Scroll to bottom to 'Options' then deselect the 'Manually manage music and videos' as it is most likely default selected. Ok the warning and boom, your music transfers and will update every time you connect your iPhone to the Mac.

Well, I've deleted everything from my phone and brought all of my music back. I'm still getting songs that have dead air time. I've also discovered that (on some songs, but again no pattern) once the song hits the dead space, iTunes jumps to the next song but does not actually advance the 'Now Playing' information. In other words, the name, time, album art etc are now wrong...


This definately seems like a software problem to me and I'm going crazy.


Anyone have any ideas? Jump ship and try the latest Android maybe?

Sorry if this is already mentioned on here somewhere, but here's how I fixed it on my iphone 4s. I went to settings>music>home sharing>enter your apple ID and password. Then on your iphone open up your music, go to "more" (the last tab) and select "Shared". Make sure you select the library you're trying to share from your computer.


Like I said, that fixed it for me. Hope it helps others.

I figured it out! Plug your phone into your computer and wait till it appears on your ITunes. Then go to one of the songs that you want to add to your phone and hold the mouse over the song (like your want to drag and drop it). A link will appear for your phone to the right, drag the song over and drop it to your phone. After a few seconds, all of my music that I've been trying to add synced to my phone! The only problem was that it also added songs that I deleted off my phone so I'll have to go back and delete them all. But at least I have my new music now! Hope this works for everyone else!

Well, I finally caved and talked to an Apple dealer. He told me that there are music licensing issues which no longer allow users to play songs on multiple devices like it used to. Now you have to subscribe to Match and Apple carries the licenses for you to have your music on multiple devices. Open iTunes and click on your Music library. You have many options across the top of the right-hand screen -- Songs, Albums, etc. The far-right option is Match. Click here to subscribe. It did work for me. I'm not happy that it's not a free option but I have ALL of my music back.

I have been working on this problem for the past 2 weeks. Each time I sync my phone I find even more of my library becomes inaccessible. Now that I have gotten so frustrated that I can't play 90% of my music library on my Iphone, I just slammed it so hard onto my desk that I shattered the front screen, I guess the best solution to this problem is to go out an purchase a Samsung Galaxy. I have already wasted enough time on this problem.

I had already tried the recommendations of ChantelMac and Sully962 without success. In fact, when I tried to wipe all the music off my phone there would still be 237 songs left no matter how many times I tried. I finally fixed the problem by uninstalling iTunes and re-installing it again and then restoring my iPhone. It seems to be working properly now. The problem started just after I upgraded to the most recent version of iTunes a couple of weeks ago. There must have been a corrupted file during the install. Thanks for all of the suggestions. I appreciate it.
