network print problem

My old MBP died alas and buying a new one I saw to my dismay that I couldn't remain with 10.6 as it came with 10.8 by default.

One of the main features of this release is that I can't print anymore via the network with my other MBP 10.7. The Laserjet 1300 printer is shared, I can print no problem from my USB connection and is seen by the other computer. The job just sits there with "trying to connect to the computer". Actually logging into it is no problem; A to B and B to A.

I checked the HP site and there are no drivers listed for 10.8, any clues? Thanx in advance for any help

OK, having the HP printer on the MBP 10.7 works. Simple config, no messing around, same on the MBP running 10.8.6. Printer recognized immediately, set up and print file routed right away.

Conclusion is there is something in 10.8 that just don't work as a print server (at least for this HP LaserJet 1300) which works perfectly well on 10.6 and 10.7.

Thank you Linc and Greg for your help and here's hoping that someone at Apple who is not busy monitoring Siri can perhaps one day come up with a fix. Unless someone has one, I consider myself satisfied that my trusty old 1300 will continue to serve me well.
