iOS 7.0.2 iMessage problems

Here’s Apple’s statement to the Journal:

“We are aware of an issue that affects a fraction of a percent of our iMessage users, and we will have a fix available in an upcoming software update,” Apple said in a statement. “In the meantime, we encourage any users having problems to reference our troubleshooting documents or contact AppleCare to help resolve their issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes impacted users.”

In the meantime, a few temporary fixes:

- Turn off iMessage in Settings > Messages
- Reset networking settings in Settings > General > Reset
- Reenable iMessage in Settings > Messages

You can also try restarting your device.

On September 20, Apple released iOS 7.0.1 for iPhone 5s and 5c handsets containing “bug fixes and improvements,” and last week it released 7.0.2 to fix a Lock screen vulnerability. And it’s expected to release iOS 7.0.3 in the next several days.

Was having the same issue. Powered off my Iphone, powered it back on.. iMessage seems to be working now. 🙂

Well I am having the same issue as everybody on my iPhone4 and my wife who's iPhone5 has been fine until today.

I have done everything suggested. After resetting my phone it began working again. I have since updated to 7.0.2 and it was still working....until last night. back to square one and i am note doing a full reset again. Apple needs to sort out there crap

i too am having this issue, tried everything. imessage seemed to be working again for a day but now its back to the same issue. what the heck apple...

When I turn iMessage off...reset network settings...reboot...turn imessage back on it works for up to 12 hours.. but then stops again.. It does this on 3 of our 4 devices.

My wife and I have iphone 4S's.

This problem exists on both of them and persists even after ios 7.02 upgrade

the idea that this is only a fraction of the users is ludicrous

no one is complaining becuase they have become used to crap support and quality from apple

betrween this and the ATV 6.0 fiasco this company is making it embarassing to be an Apple supporter

Howe can we say ios is better than android

whatzapp works falwlessly across every device and platform for free

My whole family if 6 iPhones and my parents 2 iPhones all cannot use iMessage. I think this is a bigger problem than apple realizes. We have all reset and powered off. I even had to restore two phones to get it to work at all at first.

I'm commenting so apple knows this is a BIG problem!!! Please fix the problem ASAP!

My whole family is a loyal apple family and this is really getting annoying. My son has gotten into trouble because we thought he wasn't replying to our messages. But, it was because it was still sending.......................................

I've been sending the same message for 24 hours now and counting. Get it together apple....

I've discovered holding down on the message itself in iMessage will allow me to copy as SMS text message. This sends it without the need to constantly power off my phone or reset it. I've tried turning off iMessage in Settings and using only SMS but my iPhone 4 won't allow it and defaults to iMessage. I'm very frustrated.

Tried the reset network fix several times, but after just some hours the problem is back.

What nobody's talking about is that we pay for regular txt when iMessage doesn't work.

I'm texting from US to Europe continuously and I'm really fedup when the green show up instead of blue as it translates in hard to earn $ every time !!!

It's not just a joke when $ are involved hundreds time a day... COME ON APPLE !!!

Turn messages off in settings.

Reboot - hold sleep and home buttons at same time until the apple logo appears. Release.

After it restarts, turn messages back on.

Alternately, or as well as try a reset, general, reset, reset network settings.

Perhaps you should look at temporarily using a different messaging application? Apple provides one additional option to standard text messages. It seems that you have become overly dependant upon it. Apple is NOT required to provide you with a 'free' messaging service. Use a different application while Apple works to resolve the issue.

We have 3 iPhones in our household, all suffering the same problem 2 are IOS 7.0.2 and the other was still IOS 7. I think this must be an iMessage server side problem :-(

Very annoyed message doesn't switch to sms automatically when iMessage is not working :-(
