how solve 'this accessory may not be supported' message when charging??

Using genuine apple chargers - all give the same message. Have same problem connecting to PC via USB. Has been working fine for months and yesterday just gave up. Perhaps docking station? Or ios7? Tried cleaning - ughh! Going to run out of charge soon

I See by scrolling back through my the comments, this issue not only spans years, devices, and seems to spark vast solution conundrums varying from the 'official' Apple stance (If one uses the pricey addition of an upgraded warranty of which an added bonus is the privileged access to their help line. Granted, it's the craziest marketing I've ever seen, but here we all are.) which is to simply 'hard start' any misbehaving device allowing for a reset shock back into normallacy to cleaning be it a quick wipe or with this entry- a detailed, magnified, toothpick, forensic enema approach! There seems to be an almost 'angry' defense at any remote possibility that the irritating hiccups in otherwise amazing pieces of technology could lie at the fault of Mac/Apple. Of course, this is silly to say this is not a possibility. Of course it is. It doesn't at all take away from the glory of Apple nor any of us who have ever reached such a point of frustration that we have gone back to review the other potential computers, phones, or various devices in which this search doesn't end up by concluding, 'yeah, ok- so not perfect...still light years over everybody else!' Therefore, rather than dismissing the potential that there's an underlying ongoing issue with the OS or even possibly any number of interfering software glitches that may be misbehaving causing these and other chronic annoying issues, some to the point of ruin & replace, it would seem more beneficial for all to encourage dialoge of these occurrences with reports to Apple with hope of elimination in the future. For none of these answers, responses, nor suggestions solves the issue. I own 17 Mac products currently. Of those, 10 work like a charm, always have from day 1. Those range in age from 6 years to 1 year. 3 of the remaining 7 work fairly well with occasional glitches without rhyme or reason. They are seemingly solved, if not permantly, at least until happening again- with fair ease. The last 4 products, all wireless devices- have had a pleathera of issues. Rarely one of these blogs will offer up an actual logical suggestion explained in layman terms one without experience can follow to fix the issue. Their big selling point has always been, the ease of use. The solutions for problems need to be presented in such a way, people are not so frustrated. Including myself, With updates that feel as if one is left to wonder why they simply didn't wait to release the product when it was ready? Granted I realize as an educated person that's not the case, but my parents actually think this way. They are not alone. When something no longer works correctly on their iPad, they simply don't use it again. One cant chat about the problem they are having on line if they can't get on line to discuss it! By the time they can get on line, the problem has likely been resolved at least temporarily and they no longer want to be bothered until it happens again. Perhaps these and other feelings of unimportance stretching across the masses of those who can't sync, charge, find their photos, lose connection, are eventually going to find a way to gather & compare notes. Perhaps a comprehensive picture is what they need to acknowledge there seems to be an ongoing trend here and it doesn't involve a lack of cleanliness although I'm sure there's an occasional few that do benefit from checking out that angle.

Is there buried in the wall of text, a technical support question that we, your fellow users can help you answer?

Managed to actually come

Step 1: plug in your phone and dismiss the error message

Step 2: turn off your phone, leaving the charger plugged in

Step 3: leave for a couple of hours or as long as your phone usually takes to charge

Step 4: turn your phone back on. It will have charged as turning it off means you don't give it a chance to come up with the error message!

You'll have to do this each time you need to charge - it might be inconvenient but it's better than a dead phone! Hope this helps :)
