Keychain login cannot be found to store session token

There should be at least these two: login.keychain and metadata.keychain. If not, then use Keychain Access to create a new login.keychain.

tried to creat a new keychain and got this message everytime:

[An error occurred while creating a new keychain.]

I also noticed that:

1. Trying to vew the item in the Local item (attempt to delete st) , i was asked to enter a password which I did not have (never visit the Keychain Access before; try all pw I could remember but all failed)

2. Keychain Access took nearly a minute to launch. is it normal? I guess NOT

Anyone point me to the next move? appreciate.

Normally, by default, unless you changed it, your keychain password is the same as your admin password. There's no way I know of to recover that if you forgot it, but you can change it and then try using that one. Details in

I just want to make that I get this right.

I can still log-in the mac at start up as normal. the only My problem is that pop-up error message from keychain.

so are those links solution for such pop up messages?

If you can log in, then try that password for accessing Keychain Access. Peruse Keychain Access's help files->Changing your keychain password

chrome's recent update cause this problem for us.

its in a lab setting with deepfreeze, and we generally delete most keychains. the following command helped me.

type this logged in as normal user into terminal:

security create-keychain -p '' chrome

^ those are 2 single quotes, not 1 double-quote.

chrome asks once if it can use it, just hit enter..

or if you want a password on it, put the password in the single quotes.

1. Open "Keychain" in Utilities: Finder >Applications >Utilities >Keychain

3. Click on "Keychain Access" >Keychain First Aid or Alt+Command+A

4. Enter your Password Admin Login if you have password

5. Click on "Repair" and Start repair like you do in Disk Utility and it will automatically repair whatever keychain problem on your Google Chrome or Safari

That's it! No More Pop-ups!

I followed your steps and it didn't work at first it said something like files missing or something, Then i hit for it to verify and i pressed start. Then i went back and hit repair and it worked. Hopefully i didn't do anything bad but it works.

BUT i aslo followed the stops from the second post before i seen your post...

"In Keychain Access, delete the login keychain from the keychain list. Choose Delete References when prompted, notDelete References & Files"

I deleted the keychain and tried to finish all of those steps but i couldn't rename the file called login-renamed.keychain so i just stopped and didnt do anything further? Should i experience any problem or anything? Not really sure what i did.

This worked for me, but like other I got the missing keychain.

I started Disk utility and repaired permissions, then powered off & rebooted and my keychain was back and I was able to sign in to iCloud and all have been fine since.

Only thing I seem to have lost is my login items. I've had to tell certain apps to run ay login again.

If you get the following message "A keychain cannot be found to store "Safari." try opening

Launchpad -> Other -> Keychain Access

and deleting all keychains under Safari.

Another useful option is Keychain First Aid in the Keychains Menu
