Where did my screen shots go?

Touch bar screen capture button was to blame in my case.

When I took screenshot with touchbar, I selected clipboard as destination and this setting was overriding everything else.
So I took screenshot again with the help of touchbar and selected destination "Desktop".
Then I quickly threw touchbar screenshot shortcut out 😀

This fixed the problem with screenshots not saving as file.

Nevertheless it didn't make dropbox screenshot settings work, I had to use terminal to redirect screenshots to dropbox.

All is good now.

Its on your desktop.

Launch a Finder window and adjust your view and you will find it.

Reboot your Mac if you are having some issues like that.

Then, the location is the default one, the Desktop, as others have responded,

I am experiencing the same thing. What did you end up doing to fix it?

What rebuilding did you do, and what cleanup? I've never done anything like that, so I'm not sure how even to start.

I tried this. Nothing happened.

Go to Finder, All My Files, and type in Search bar "screen shots". They should all come up there.

A bit late, but just thought I'd say this solution worked for me. It did change the keys needed to capture the screen but it appears on my desktop as it should.

So thank you for this easy solution!
