iPhone 4s iOS7 - won't sync music or video - cancels sync and hangs.

I have updated my iPhone 4s 32gig to the newest iOS7 version, and updated iTunes on my iMac to the most recent version. I have ample extra space on the phone for the amount of music and video I want to sync. I'm plugging the phone into the computer during this sync process rather than WiFi. The sync works through the backups to the computer and the apps, but as soon as it gets to the portion where it would transfer music it immediately goes to "canceling sync" and will sit there indefinitely. I have rebooted the computer, hard booted the phone (home + Power) but nothing changes. It just hangs up and I have an iPhone that was working perfectly pre-"upgrade" that no longer does what it's supposed to.

Additional details:

I am set up for automatic syncing of playlists and a few albums rather than manually managing music.

When I upgraded the iPhone, I deleted the music and movies from the phone to make room for the iOS7 rather than removing the music through a sync process.

Any ideas or is this just a "wait until Apple figures out there is a problem" type of thing?

I am having the same problem. I've tried so many different suggested solutions, but none worked for me. I really hope someone, or Apple would figure this out and push an update to become available to fix this. It's extremely frustrating.

I have been working on this problem ever since I "upgraded" to the iOS7 and the new iTunes. I have tried all suggested fixes on several websites. Every time I sync, I lose more of my libraray. I can no longer access 90% of my music libraray, most of which I transferred off of older CDs that I no longer have. I have used an Apple Iphone since the original version. I just got so frustrated that I slammed my current Iphone5 purchased in May, 2013 onto my desk and shattered the front screen. Time to switch to an Android. I have wasted enough time on this.

Do you still have the music on your computer? .

If you do, re-sync your music from your computer to itunes. Just drag and drop it.

If the music is no longer on that computer your are using your are out of luck. Plain and simple.

You have to have the music on your computer in order to get it back on your iphone with itunes.

Also make sure your up to date on your itunes you must have itunes 11. what ever in order to even use it with iOS 7

Yes I still have my files on my computer. I have the latest version of both iOS7 and iTunes11. The problem started when I upgraded to iTunes 11. There must be a major bug in iTunes 11. I have been a loyal fan of Apple's iPhone and I have been using both since their inception Now the question is whether I should remain loyal to Apple or make the switch the Android. If Apple doesn't address this issue quickly, I will find it far more convenient to carry around an Android phone than carry around my desk top computer just to listen to my music.

Similar incident happened to me. iTunes on my laptop has many albums. After upgrading iPhone 4s to 7.2 or 7.4 several albums on iPhone won't play. Tried resync'ing ... didn't fix. Deleted all music from iPhone and re-sync'ed ... but same albums won't download. But they play fine off of laptop. About ready to embrace the Windows 8 phone.

I just wanted to add to this as I've been having the same problem for a few weeks. It wasn't a priority for me to troubleshoot until tonight and I was able to fix it WITHOUT doing a backup/restore and the solution was incredibly simple.

I sync my iPhone 5S with my MacBook but I also use a Thinkpad for work which I sometimes use for charging throughout the day. It seems that since I 'Trusted' my Thinkpad on my iPhone it forgot the previously 'Trusted' relationship with my MacBook and it wouldn't prompt me to trust it again when I plugged it in and certainly wasn't prompting me over wireless sync.

I simply rebooted the phone, plugged it into the MB, rebooted the MB while the phone was plugged in and when OsX relaunched I received a 'Trust this computer' prompt on the iPhone. After accepting the prompt my sync worked again as expected.

This may be a long-winded reply, but I really hope it helps some people out.

Thanks, Claddicaviator! That worked! I've been messing with this crap for a week. After upgrading to ios7 a few months back, it deleted all my imported CDs when I synced. After spending hours importing over 30 CDs and recreating my play lists for over 1,000 songs and even having to download purchased songs that were wiped out, I am finally back on the road to getting back to where I was before upgrading to the demon ios7. I hate Apple products now. I just cancelled an iPad Air I had on order from Best Buy. Time to change platforms.

I too have already wasted too much time on this incredibly frustrating issue. Between this (whether I ever figure it out or not) and the utter lack of any noticable improvement with iOS7.... I will be eligible for a phone ugrade in April 2014 and I have already decided to switch to an android based phone.

Apple get your s#*! together.
