problem in lock screen in ios 7.0.2

I updated (iphone5) to ios 7.0.2, my phone has been freezing sporadically at the lock screen. I am unable to slide to unlock

Is there a way to fix this problem?

I have been facing the same issue for quite some time, when i was on ios6 i never had this problem so for
TIMs response i dont think this is harware related.

I think this has got to do with IOS notifications or things, happens only when a call goes unanswered or during a message. i dont know.

Unfortunate that apple is not regcognizing this problem or even acknowleding that this issue is present.

It is not just annoying its actually very inconvinent and sometimes during emergency it could be vital.

@SiliconPrasad,

I don't think the problem you face is the same as others do. Anyway, for me, the when the lockscreen freezes,

1. I cannot unlock of course.

2. I cannot answer any calls.

3. I can pull down the notifications menu or pull up the control center; but the items in them does not respond to touch. i.e. they are unusable.

4. Only thing that really works is to press and hold the power button and then swipe to power off (fortunately this swipe works! The only usable touch action once the screen freezes!).

The funniest part is that the problem looks like a quite old lock screen problem, which atleast half of the iPhone users agree that they do have it. And, I could not see this problem listed in any of the bug lists in iOS, even in the open world of Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS_version_history#iOS_7.x_3. Shall I do the crime of editing the list to add this problem?

I have the same problem in 7.0.4.

In lock screen I can:

Swipe up or down to reveal the control and notification centre respectively. The notification centre (including the weather widget) is up to date. To make them dissapear, the home screen button perfectly works and I cal swipe up for the notification centre, but not swipe down for the control centre;

Press and hold the lock button so that the swicth-off menu appears, but neither the slider nor the cancel button functions;

Mute an incoming call;
Switch to silent/loud mode;
Take screenshots.

I can not:

Swipe up for the camera;
Unlock the screen (password lock is currently off);
Operate anything in the control or notification centra. (I can only make them appear/dissapear);
Adjust the sound volume (the slider in control centre remains unmoved when i press the volume buttons);
Switch off my phone;
Answer an incomin call or reply with message or chose "remind me later".
I have this problem for 6 hrs or so.

iOS 7 clearly needs stability and design improvements.

I tried resetting all the setting of my phone to the original 7.0.4 version. Without restoring the phone had shown the problem twice! See my post on Nov 6th in the same thread.

But recently I found a "work around" for this problem. Just grab friends phone and give a missed call to your frozen phone. Now try again to unlock the phone. This worked for me whenever I tried (whenever I got a landphone or a friend's phone near me!). Or just keep a Nokia 1100 basic phone in a hidden pocket of your coat for this purpose while you have your iPhone always in your hand showing everyone!!! 😝 Anyway, you guys may also give a try for this. This is a less time consuming solution than a restart. And let's all pray well together to get the release 7.1 come out soon with a fix for this issue...

I am facing the exact issue what Girish is facing. This is not expected from Apple. I am using Apple iPhone 5 with IOS 7.1.2. apple doesnt care about anything i guess. After Steve Jobs Apple has gone too low. I guess its time to think beyond apple device and get Moto G or Moto X.

Everyone facing the same problem, I came across the below link recently.

http://www.r00tsec.com/2014/04/news-iphone-ios-bug-for-flash-smsclass.html?m=1

Isn't this actually our problem? In my case, I use a PREPAID connection which displays a class 0 message with balance consumed in last session and total remaining balance and validity, at the end of every deduction from balance. Let it be a call / sms / data session or crossing towers during a data session or switching between EDGE and 3G. I usually felt the problem more often when I drive with data on with a Maps application on. So there is a higher possibility of the below.

1. Get a class 0 message.

2. Before I click on Dismiss button, let the phone lock.

3. Get another class 0 message.

The phone gets locked in step 3. The above link state this as the root cause for the lock screen freeze problem.

In my awareness we will be able to dismiss the message received. But sometimes I didn't see any message to dismiss after step 3.

Anyway, anyone of you facing the problem stated in this thread without such a class 0 message? Such messages are usually used to update the balance by some prepaid service providers. In my knowledge the same are used for emergency messages or advertisements.

I don't know why this happens but I know how to fix it without restarting your phone if you have AssistiveTouch on.

  1. Use AssistiveTouch
  2. Open Control Center
  3. Select Camera app
  4. Go to your gallery and then select "All photos"
  5. Type in your passcode (if you have on)
  6. Voila, your phone is unlocked and if you lock it again the problem should go away.
