I only bought an iPad after I was invited to beta test some new music apps.

If a reputable organisation breaks something in an OS update, then normally they should do their best to help their developers overcome the mess created in the best technical way. I see no indication of that in this instance.

Previously I've beta tested real synthis, plugins, hardware, software and firmware for various devices for many years but have never known such a non responsive self centred bunch.

In future I know where my money will be invested. I know they don't care about losing customers but this one doesn't need them and has managed for many years before without them.

The End

For quite some time Apple has held the stance that it does not allow 3rd party apps to interact withthe core OS applications. If a third party app developer found a bug in the OS that let them work around this OS restriction, then it is not Apple's fault when teh third party developer's app fails if that bug is fixed. By Apple preventing the third party apps from interactinf with the Core OS apps, it makes the platform more stable in the long run. Your software tried to cheat around that OS restriction and when their loophole was closed, they blame Apple rather than themselves for trying to cheat in the first place.

Facts are simply facts. I've only stayed with forums that allow facts, no matter how unpalatable they may be to those who follow blindly accepting everything they are told.

1) This is not my software. I merely reported the problem caused by an upgrade, which is now called a "cheat". This fails to understand that a change in policy occurred rendering a certain group of apps useless.

2) Various developers of interconnecting apps have experienced the same problem. I merely gave one example.

3) The proposed workarounds makes devices extremely sluggish with inadequate timely response.

4) My post was deleted, not because I had a rant, but simply because it contained a warning report from a concerned developer advising not to upgrade as the result would be that the app would cease working - this is a fact and not a rant.

5) The term Apple Support Community is in danger of becoming an oxymoron, if responses appear to be sanitized to suit and not take heed of reports of sluggish devices and poor battery performance resulting from an "upgrade".

6) All that anyone wants is positive technical solutions to problems.

7) For timing reasons, music and MIDI apps need to work efficiently otherwise they are not fit for purpose which could result in litigation.

8) Poor solutions result in reputational damage as customers may lose patience and look for alternatives.

I too want to do this.

I've got an iphone 4 with 7.1.1 and it's got a number of showstopping bugs - speaker - wifi - etc.

If Apple can't be bothered to test the O/S on their old hardware they should still support downloads to it.

Pull your finger out Apple!

I have sent feedback to Apple using the link.
