Swipe not working to answer phone

Upgraded my iPhone 5 to ios 7.02 and I am having trouble answering calls. I will try and swipe to answer, but nothing happens. The slide to unlock bar does not move, and I cannot answer the call. Anyone have any suggestions? It does not happen every time, but frequently. I have no problem swiping to unlock under any other circumstances.

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.2

I've run into the similar problem ever since iOS 7.0 but it was intermittent. It was also the first time I realized that I much preferred the old way of answering the phone (i.e. no swiping!).

I found that I had to go all the way from one edge of the screen all the way to other (slowly) in order to get it to answer. But try doing that when attempting to answer the call with one hand!

When version 7.02 came out, it seemed to get worse. Someone suggested that it must be a bad screen. I dunno about that. I can play games, unlock the screen, and other swiping gestures.

My iPhone is just the 5, I have a screen protector on it but like everyone else, it has never posed a problem.

I have already sent Apple a feedback asking them to please give us the ability to disable the swipe to answer so that it would act like it did before 7.xx came out.

BTW, here is the link to send your feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

I have the same problem (and it is worse since 7.0.3), i have NO film or glass protector (but just a Spiegen flip case) but i found the sollution on some other forum, that seems to work

slide to answer do not work when you swipe from the edge of the screen (like it was in iOS6) but you should start around he place where "z" on the virt keyboard is

ok did some more tests

when cover is OPEN:

works like charm no matter where you start swiping from (edge or Z) no matter if phone locked or locked and screen off

when cover is CLOSED:

DOES NOT WORK at all - requires volume UP to be pushed before being able to answer with swipe

what is funny - i did one more test - cover with white paper sheet and it worked - so the issue in my case is only when being covered by flip cover 🙂

APPLE please fix it somehow 😀

Send Apple a feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

I just sent another feedback to them last week asking them to please consider giving us the ability to disable the swipe to answer. I also mentioned in my feedback that this is my second plea and if they would do a quick search in the forums they would see a lot of other iPhone owners who feel the same.

I plan to keep sending them a feedback every week or so until I get a response of some sort. I encourage the rest of you to do the same. 🙂

I have this same problem on a iPhone 5s running iOS 7.0.3. After experimenting with calls to my iPhone from our landline, I've found if I hold my finger on the unlock button a second or two before swiping, the iPhone will answer the call. It's like iOS takes a second to register the touch.

BTW, the volume buttons work-around didn't work for me. Nor did swiping above or below the unlock bar.

Hopefully, Apple will fix this in their next iOS update.

JRibbit, you are absolutely right about when the two tappable buttons appear. Poor testing on my part. But when I retested and called myself many times last night, I found that "Slide to answer" on my locked 5s worked everytime with no hesitation. Obviously, your milage may vary, but so far I've found that iOS 7.0.4 has fixed my problem. 🙂
