Swipe not working to answer phone

Upgraded my iPhone 5 to ios 7.02 and I am having trouble answering calls. I will try and swipe to answer, but nothing happens. The slide to unlock bar does not move, and I cannot answer the call. Anyone have any suggestions? It does not happen every time, but frequently. I have no problem swiping to unlock under any other circumstances.

I'm having the same trouble swipe to answer on iphone 5 ver 7.02, 7.03 and 7.04 will not work. Swipe to unlock is fine, no protective cover and have tried all solutions listed in this thread... brought it to the Apple store where they said it was the screen itself but of course they have no idea what they are talking about since it slides to unlock.

Clearly a software bug.

Just wanted to add a "me too". I have an iPhone 5, no screen cover, and since ios 7, I intermittently can not swipe to answer the phone. No problems on just unlocking. I have made all the OS updates, but none have fixed the issue. I will try some of the workarounds the next time it happens. Once, when it happened, my daughter was sitting next to me and I had her try to swipe just to see if it was something with my finger, but she couldn't get it to work either. I think I must have answered it by clicking the top power button.

I've found on iOS 7.0.4 that "Swipe to Answer" only arises on incomming calls from another handset labelled as an "iPhone". If you simply label other hansets as a "mobile" then you will get the "Accept" or "Decline" option to answers calls from such handset. On a small amount of testing this seems to work and at least I'm now able to receive calls.

When I first ran into this problem (when iOS 7.0 came out) I went to the Apple Store to speak with a "Genius". Recreating the symptom took a few attempts but was able to demonstrate to the "Genius" of the problem.

His only conclusion was that it was a defective "scanner" (the glass) and was willing to give me a replacement (a refurbished unit). I declined since my iPhone 5 was less than a year old and it's only the "swipe to answer" that is having problems.

I didn't even bother going to Verizon as I would probably be given the same choice.

That said, all Apple needs to do, I feel, is to give us the ability to disable the "swipe to answer" .. this way for those that like the swipe to answer can keep it. For me (and what seems like a lot of people), please give us back the old "Accept/Decline" buttons!!

Went into Apple Store at MOA and discussed this with them at the Genius Bar. After analyzing my software he suggested going into reset the phone setting only. While he did this he made notes about what he did. I have had a half dozen calls since then and have had no problems sliding to answer from the locked screen. He said the information would be referred for future software updates.
