iPhone 5 Power Button flaky since upgrade to iOS 7

I never had any issues with the power/sleep button on my iPhone 5 in the past. However, immediately after upgrading to iOS 7 I started having issues with the button not responding very well. It can take numerous presses to get it to work, or sometimes it just works on the first try. I have updated to the latest 7.0.1 and 7.0.2 but with no change in behavior. I am fairly certain that there is some sort of issue or bug with iOS 7, and that it is not a hardware issue.

Has anyone else come across this problem, and if so, was there anything found that could possibly fix it (aside from restoring an old backup of the phone before it was upgraded to iOS7)?

I've had the same power button issue ever since the IOS7 upgrade. Tonight i went under General-accessibility and did two thing after which the issue went away. I turned ON the the"Guided Access", then turned it off. Then turned on the "Switch Control", turned on speech setting then turned all of it off. Somehow Power button is fully functional now and responds on every click.

Same problem for me as well. The lock button didn't work just after IOS7 upgrading. I thought it was a software proble. However, after upgrading to 7.0.3, the problem is still here.

I got my iphone5 the second day when it was out. I'm very disappointed that it doesn't working well just over 1 year warrenty.

Does anyone know any other solutions? (the accessibility one doesn't work for me )

I do think APPLE should give an OFFICIAL response to this problem since it is common based on discussion!

My mother's iphone 5 AND myself are having the same issue. I am also having diffuculty taking screen shots and adjusting the volume during an app. Luckily, I have three days of my warranty. Here's hopeing the Apple Store will get fixed.

With such a common problem, Apple definately needs to address the issue to the public. It is no where near a coincidence anymore if my mother and myself are having the same issue.

I have been using ios 7 since it came out. 3 days ago on nov 6th, this power button issue happened to me as well. None of my wife's and friend's iphone have this issue. I tried the suggested fix above, and it worked, but not permanent. It came back afterwards. However, I did one thing that it seems to work, although it is still not as perfect as i used to get. I touch and hold one of my many apps, just like if you want to delete or move apps, and then cancel it by clicking on the home button, my power button works again. The reason I say it is not perfect because sometimes I have to click on the power button twice before it locked. I come to the conclusion that this must be a software glitch. Hope Apple will investigate and have this fixed soon. If anyone have any other solution, please post.

Hope this post helps.

Note: I have tried uninstalling the apps that got updated on the same day my power button stop working, and that didn't work either.

Yes me as well. It's so annoying. Today I was painting a table and had to put my iphone 5 in my pocket without putting it to sleep because it will very rarely go into sleep mode when I push the button anymore. When I pulled it back out of my pocket it was in the middle of requesting permissions for facebook access to one of my apps! I realized that it had deleted and rearranged some of my apps compeltely on it's own. I thought maybe it wasn't going into sleep mode because some apps were left "open". I tried closing everything. That didn't worked. I thought maybe it was the camera app being left open but figured out that wasn't it either. I'm glad to know others are having this problem. The apple store is my next stop.

Hello everybody, it just occurred to me that we all have not identified which carrier we are on. I am using a Sprint iPhone five. And the issue is getting out of control. I have an appointment with AppleCare tonight but it is clearly a iOS 7 issue. Please let everyone know what carrier you are using, because the phones are actually different with the hardware on a Sprint phone then on an AT&T phone or Verizon phone.

After updating to ios 7 my power off button stopped working completely. After updating to ios 7.04 the problem still remains. Now when I least expect it, the shut down menu keeps popping up unexpectadly. Today I decided to connect it to ITunes on my Mac OsX and do a complete reboot to my Ipad. But the problem still remains.

APPLE FIX THIS. THE PRICES WE PAY FOR YOUR PRODUCTS SHOULD NOT ALLOW FOR THESE MISTAKES.

In just 1 year and a half this is the second time my Ipad is giving me a headache. The first time I was two months without my Ipad and then they (Optimus in Portugal) gave me a new one (suposedly). This is the new machine, it has a couple of months.

APPLE what's wrong with you?
