Getting PDF into iBooks from Mail with IOS 7?

OK, on my iPad 3......pre IOS 7, someone coud emal me a PDF and I would click it in Mail and it would give me the "OPTION" to view or open in iBooks. Because I wanted it in iBooks, I would click that and all was good.

NOW with IOS 7.....I get this "Preview" of the PDF.....when I click it, I get "Save Image" or "Copy".

If I click Save Image, it puts something in my Camera Roll that I cannot even see? If I hit Copy, I guess it's on the Clipboard...but I still cannot get it into iBooks.

HOW DO I GET A PDF that was emailed to me from Mail to iBooks using IOS 7????

Thanks for your help.

NO....nothing is fixing this for me.

I have tried making a PDF with Adobe PS, MS Word Windows, MS Word Mac, ALL VERSIONS....all just text, all just images...all kinds of different ways and sizes.....and NOTHING WORKS.

I thought for sure the last update would fix this problem...but NOPE....exactly the same thing.

And for the poster who said they just held their finger on the PDF....I tried that for 15 minutes....NOTHING.....

----

So...the work around for me.....which is MEGA FRUSTRATING to have to do.....is when the email comes in.....on my Mac Pro......I save the PDF attachment to my dropbox....then on my iPAD.....I open the attachment within dropbox and then save it into iBooks.

That way I still get to use the PDF....it's just extra steps.

I wish Apple would get this fixed??????????

I had the same trouble after I updated to iOS7 - I used to be able to save pdfs from my email to my iBooks library. Then, like you, I now only have "open," "add to reading list", "copy" on the press and hold option - and "open in safari?" once the pdf is open.

I then realized I had also switched to the Gmail app and was not using the email app that apple provides.

I fired up the old Mail app and it worked just as in the past (except the save and send options pop up using a new icon that looks like a box with an up arrow - it's in the upper right corner).

Hope you have the same luck.

Betsyfrommadison on 1 Nov 13 had a clue that worked for me. I had all the same problems as Kirk. But on opening/viewing the pdf on the iphone 4s with ios7 that square icon with the arrow in the top RHS didnt seem to do anything on tapping. I held that for a few seconds then the old options, including open in ibooks, came up and all worked, it was saved in ibooks just like the old days. Now the options come up on that icon with a simple tap.

First time I've used these forums - hope I havent stuffed up any protocols.

I have tried all of the suggestions....NOTHING works....I have held my finger on it for 15 mintues....NOTHING....I have tapped...I have tried every suggestion.

NOTHING.

I have installed Adobe PDF reader app...I can't even get it to open in there.

So....I have narrowed the problem to being a MAIL problem. I am using the standard default MAIL that comes with the iPAD.....how do I FORCE it to update and re-install JUST THAT????

I KNOW...you can't do that.....

So....the problem continues.....seems to me with so many people having this problem APPLE would do something????

OK....something just changed??? I think APPLE must have addressed this??? I just updated to 7.04 and IBOOKS looks different.

I also (from another discussion) deleted a PDF app that I did not use. This was an older (free) app for doing HIGHLIGHTS to pdfs...in the other discussion they said to delete old apps....as soon as I deleted this old app.....it started working again.

So...I do not know if it's the deleting...or the update that fixed this from me....but it is now working.

Yay! Finally. I don't know, but I updated just before I got it to work also, so maybe it was the update, though when I went to show someone how it was working it didn't work the first time I held my finger on it. But when I let go and tried again it worked. Anyway, whatever did it, I am relieved. I just wish I could still drag things from itunes on my mackbook into my attached ipad. But, oh well.

Okay - Here was my problem. I have always just emailed myself a PDF, gone to my iPad, used the Open In iBooks option and everything has worked perfectly. My husband just got a new iPad Air yesterday and I was going to show him how that worked - only it didn't. Here's what did finally work for me. I emailed it to him in gmail, went to the lower right corner and chose the option to open in Chrome though Safari, etc would have worked as well. This opened the PDF in the browser on the iPad. THEN and only then, I had the option in the lower right corner, (watch for it - it comes and goes) of opening the PDF in iBooks. This is very convoluted from the way it has always worked and I have had 4 previous iPads but as long as it works, I'm a happy camper.

I know that this is a little late, but I was having the same issue. The issue may be resolved by now, but thought I'd chime in with my 2 cents.

I resolved the issue by opening the pdf (it was a scanned image) in Mail on my iPad and then just press(touch) and hold one finger on the opened document in Mail, and the option came up to "open in...". iBooks was included in the option.

Hope this helps and is relevant.

Anyone trying to open the attachment in ibooks or other apps from the ios 7 mail on your ipad (same on iphone from when I tried there as well)

DO THIS AS tbj3 said. Hold finger down. I kept tapping which would highlight for the cut/paste feature which I did not want. HOLD YOUR FINGER ON IT and the preview with options will come up.

Thank You!!!
