iPhone 5s mic problem

People are saying they can not hear me clearly when I'm talking. I have tried speaker phone and the head set as well but it doesn't fix the issue... Has anyone else had this issue and if so how did you resolve it or was it just an issue with the phone (I just got it yesterday)

I have had same problem. Went to Apple store for problem with iPhone 5 and also told them about people complaining they could not hear me. Did get phone changed due to the main reason I went to the store but volume no better with new phone. I am also interested to see if others have this problem and if anything can be done to improve volume so I can be heard when using iPhone.

Yes same problem with my new 5e, people saying my calls were muffled, had the phone replaced at genius bar, and have the same exact problem with the new one, 3 days ago replaced. It is worse when I hold the phone in my left hand. Doesn't matter what case, no case, noise canceling turned on or turned off.... really unhappy with my iPhone and the terrible quality. Boy do I miss Steve Jobs... !

Got an iPhone 5S 64GB from my new employer, and using it only for a few days I've noticed people having trouble hearing what I'm saying and some of them commenting on it.

When connecting a headset to the phone it is clearly much better sound on the other end, so I'm going to replace the phone as soon as possible.

One can only imagine all the extra cost in time and effort this implies on my daily work, and it is definitely not strengthening Apples brand when this issue still is there in 2016, when people obviously have had this problem for years.
