Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I have a mid 2011 Air. This happened prior to my OS X 10.8.5 upgrade. Anyone else having this problem? I see that there are threads where people had the problem AFTER the OS upgrade, and it only affects Skype.

So EZ Jim, what do you think it is that caused the camera to stop working? Any hypotheses? Since it happened just before the 10.8.5 upgrade, the only major software changes I remember doing was the one for iOS 7. If I remember correctly, prior to iOS 7 update the camera on my Air (mid 2011) worked fine. I don't see how these two are related unless some components needed to be changed in OS X to accomodate the new iTunes or something.

I have offered all the suggestions that users like us can accomplish on our own to try to correct your issue. Having tried them all, your best next step will be to seek professional help from an AASP (Apple-Authorized Service Provider).
Apple Technicians have access to all the necessary special tools, test equipment, technical data, and replacement parts required to find and correct any problem of whatever underlying cause as quickly and efficiently as humanly possible.
