Hi pricey1989,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. I would suggest trying the following:

For any affected apps:

iOS: Force an app to close

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137

If that does not resolve the issue:

iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430

Cheers,

- Ari

ISSUE RESOLVED FOR ME

The “links not working in emails” problem got resolved in my 5s when I followed these steps.

  1. Go to SETTINGS > GENERAL > RESTRICTIONS > and enable them. It will ask for a Pin to be set. Complete that by choosing a Pin and enable it (the one common for all tab).
  2. Now Disable it back.
  3. Now Turn Off your device and wait for 30 Seconds to Re-start again.

Now your browser links should work when tapped from Mail app. Also App installation + deletion and iBooks store should start working fine (which also got disabled for me).

I assume this to be some sort of built-on-purpose bug for people to pay attention to set a RESTRICTIONS pin, if users forgot to do so. But if so then it gives nightmares for users until you try for answers in Google or Apple community.

Good Luck ! 😎

Top!

Thank you! It worked!!!

Exactly: even if your Restrictions (Settings -> General) are disabled, it is as if they were enabled. So enable them, choose a pin code, and then disable them back.

And your links should work again in your emails!

Stupid but maybe this is done so that you create your pin code for Restrictions for the first time.

Hello,

I am facing a weird problem and hitting a wall so far.

We are building a site for client that upon applying for a job or recommending a job sends an email to the the applicant, the one who is recommended and the one the one who recommended respectively.

Now, this email has link to the job that was applied for or recommended. On all andiod devices, clicking the links works fine and asks for open browser permission and takes user to the job page. But, on iPhones, the users are not able to click the link. So using the native mail app that iPhone provides, they get the email but clicking the link does not do anythng for them.

Can someone please share some insights on what might be wrong here? Many thanks for the help in advance.

Seems like what this thread is about is links in an email that link to a website.

What I am concerned about is links in an email that link to an anchor tag lower down in the same email. Used to work but now it doesn't.

I presume Apple, in it's infinite post-jobs wisdom, has decided to disable this feature.

If anybody knows anything different from this, please let me know.

Both my iPhone 6+ and iPad Air are toast since the recent update. None of the earlier users recommendations worked. In fact, it some what scrambled the icons on my screens by deleting some groups and dumping the individual icons out of a group.

I wish some one would detail how to go back one update. Like you, my mail is totally locked if I try to use a link in the email and now my Safari, by itself, will access the search engine and give results but will not then access the selected site displayed by the search engine although it would yesterday.

To compound the problem further, on one of my devices, a Safari password appeared even though I had never set one and it will not let me delete it !!!!!
