    Hi pricey1989,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  I would suggest trying the following:

    For any affected apps:

iOS: Force an app to close

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137

If that does not resolve the issue:

iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430

    Cheers,

    - Ari

My mom is having the exact same problem. We have both upgraded to the new os, my iPad links with a click, my moms does not. Our settings are the same.

    Any idea what's up?

Did you follow the advice descibed in the post above yours?

  • Gina104 Level 1 (0 points)

Not yet. I am unsure about booting an app with the new os7, and I am providing tech support for mom over the phone.

It appears Safari does not need a force quit, but maybe a boot? How?

The problem is now solved! The issue was SETTINGS, GENERAL, RESTRICTIONS! They were enabled, some how this happened over the update. The App Store was also missing off the home screen, the App Store was also enabled! After disabling this the problem was solved I hope this helps you guys! The link above didn't do it for me.

    All the best

The problem is in MAIL, not with an ordinary app. How do you restart it?

The links inside of messages no linger respond to a touch; holding the spot opens a little menu of commands, but they don't work either.

I have had a lot of problems since the iOS update, but I can't see. To solve this one.

    I have the iPad2.

    Thanks

Same problem with iPad. Rebooting DOES NOT solve.

Which iOS version and iPad model?  Jailbroken?

  • Haricotboat Level 1 (0 points)

    Ipad 3 & IOS 7 not Jailbroken

My wife's iPad had similar problems but not mine (identical iPads) and reboot did not work.  I enabled restrictions, then disabled them...problem solved.  Apparently it may indicate disabled restrictions when in fact they are in place.

I had this issue with my iPad and the answer for me was also in SETTINGS --> GENERAL --> RESTRICTIONS ...

Links could not be opened from Mail app because Safarai has somehow been restricted... I re-allowed it, and voila... Links open now.

    Top!

    Thank you! It worked!!!

Exactly: even if your Restrictions (Settings -> General) are disabled, it is as if they were enabled. So enable them, choose a pin code, and then disable them back.

And your links should work again in your emails!

Stupid but maybe this is done so that you create your pin code for Restrictions for the first time.

    ISSUE RESOLVED FOR ME

The “links not working in emails” problem got resolved in my 5s when I followed these steps.

    1. Go to SETTINGS > GENERAL > RESTRICTIONS > and enable them. It will ask for a Pin to be set. Complete that by choosing a Pin and enable it (the one common for all tab).
    2. Now Disable it back.
    3. Now Turn Off your device and wait for 30 Seconds to Re-start again.

Now your browser links should work when tapped from Mail app. Also App installation + deletion and iBooks  store should start working fine (which also got disabled for me).

I assume this to be some sort of built-on-purpose bug for people to pay attention to set a RESTRICTIONS pin, if users forgot to do so. But if so then it gives nightmares for users until you try for answers in Google or Apple community.

    Good Luck !
