Update Unavailable with This Apple ID

Hi,

I have been trying to update my apps, and a pop-up box appeared, saying

Update Unavailable with This Apple ID

This update is for an app downloaded with a different Apple ID.

Sign in with that Apple ID and try again.

This happened on both my iPhone and my computer associated with it. iTunes will not let me download the app, even though I have had it on my phone before. The app still says 'Free' in the app store, but I am unable to download it.

I am using an iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.2, and I am using a Windows 8 operating system on a laptop.

Does anyone have a solution? Thanks for the help in advance.

??Solution?? Been trying all of these all night and still the same story! I have iWork '09 and iLife '11 and both were store bought so why the heck should it be associated with my app store account in the first place...I also have Aperture... I had absolutely no problem downloading and upgrading to Mavericks with my account... I installed my apps as normal (which incidentally update no problem at all on Mountain Lion and earlier)... So I cheched for updates and get the same crap with eiother of my 2 accounts! Furthermore I got bounced and once again had to change my password for the second time in a matter of months..has to be an Apple engineer

Totally Ridiculous!

The Solution has to be an Apple Engineer sorting out what the heck is causing this issue and fixing it - apps are pretty useless if I cannot upgrade them on account of some crummy red Tape BS! The App Store is the one area of Apple that SERIOUSLY *****! Maybe they should give it away free (To Micro$haft - the King of crApps!) and start over.... Many a customer seriously Pyst off by these constant issues...

I have the same problem. Updated all my apps except Skype, when trying to update it, got the error "cannot update he app because it was diwnloaded using different Apple ID".

I thought, may be (in the past I used different Apple ID for things available only in USA store).

So I deleted the skype, and when trying to install it, I get the samd error, which is stupid. It is not update, it is fresh install, still the error says about update. Rebooted iPhone, logged out of App Store in settings and logged in again, no luck. Something went crazy on Apple part.

I just downloadedd Twitter - a free app,Not an app I will use or even want to use... but nevertheess it installed no problem! Seems the only apps I have an issue with are all apple store bought items....
Updates it seems are available and indeed several of the appls will now work on Maveriicks without them...Needs work urgently... Gouing to be a LOT of work to downgrade to Mountain Lion again as it seems Apple are clearly not ready with Mavericks yet! - Unless this issue only affects customers outside of the United States.... which would be so typical in this age of Non-Preference and Non-Prejudice

I bought an app called Topo Maps in 2010 for $7.99 for my iPhone using the only Apple ID I have ever had. When I use "Get Info" for the app in iTunes, the app is said to have been digitally signed by that Apple ID. There is an available update for this app. However when I try to update it, I get the same message as the original poster of this thread. I have tried deleting the app from both the iPhone and iTunes and reinstalling (using the local file retrieved from the Trash since I cannot download the app at this pointc), clearing out all the relevant caches, signing in and out of the store, etc. with no success.

Most significantly, there is no way to contact any Apple support resource to solve this problem. All links lead to a support page related to eligable hardware. Since the app was originally bought in 2010, the hardware is well out of warranty. I have the transaction number, date I bought the app, and proof that I bought it using my Apple ID but I cannot find a way to contact a person or even an automated resource to solve this problem--which is a problem with their database, not with my system or account. Very frustrating, as this should be a simple problem to solve.

Notably, there are close to 1500 views of this discussion, so I know that many people are having problems like this. I have not seen any clear solutions for it and would welcome any ideas.

I've been getting this message even before I updated to Mavericks for apps/programs (iPhoto, Garage Band, iMovie) that were preloaded on my Macbook Pro when I purchased it over a year ago. Have been able to use original versions without issue until now. After updating to mavericks, now it won't let me open iPhoto because the older version isn't compatible.

I have no way of knowing what AppleID was used when these were installed at the factory.

Any help would be appreciated!
