Update Unavailable with This Apple ID

Hi,

I have been trying to update my apps, and a pop-up box appeared, saying

Update Unavailable with This Apple ID

This update is for an app downloaded with a different Apple ID.

Sign in with that Apple ID and try again.

This happened on both my iPhone and my computer associated with it. iTunes will not let me download the app, even though I have had it on my phone before. The app still says 'Free' in the app store, but I am unable to download it.

I am using an iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.2, and I am using a Windows 8 operating system on a laptop.

Does anyone have a solution? Thanks for the help in advance.

PEOPLE,I HAVE THE ANSWER!You just have to try a some of these methods.I WILL NOT CONFIRM THAT THEY WORK YET.

METHOD 1:Try emailing Apple Support.

METHOD 2:Sign out and sign in.Then try again.

METHOD 3:Delete the apps and download them again.

METHOD 4:Change your location and change it back to your actual location and try.

METHOD 5:last resort:Make a NEW Apple ID.

After not benefiting from the "overnight fix" and spending an hour on the phone with "Top Apple Talent" and still no sollution, I backed up my library and deleted iPhoto, expecting that I'd need to buy it again.

After restarting, the icon in the app store read "Install," which I did, no charge, and am back up and running.

Hope this is helpful to others with the same issue.

Since the minute I downloaded the new OS X Mavericks 10.9 my iPHOTO app on my iMAC has a white line through it and is not compatible. Then EVERY time I try to update it in the app store I get the same message that many others have received --->

The iPhoto software came pre-installed on my iMac when I purchased it new in 2010 directly from the Apple store, so it was NEVER purchased or updated with a different Apple ID. And no one else has access to my account or my computer. I’ve never changed it my id. I started with Snow Leopard and have done all the operating system updates though now and iPhoto has always worked fine...until now. I have tried EVERY remedy posted on this thread and others, short of starting over and wiping my iMac clean. I was on the phone with 2 Apple advisors and a senior tech yesterday for 3 hours and no one could find a solution other than some apparent 24 hour self fix that some people are experiencing. Apple is supposed to call me back today to see if it magically fixed itself. Anybody else find any better solutions other than dropping my iMac off the top of a building?

On a side note...(even though I know they stopped updating it) my iWeb app, which I still have all my websites created on, is now not functioning correctly. The writing/ words on any particular web page within the app are all scrunched together. Again, even through all the operating system updates, iWeb has always worked fine...until now.

Thinking of backing up, wiping clean and going back to Mountain Lion...so far I'm not impressed with Mavericks.

Any help or other suggestions with this problem would be appreciated.

So I had an old version of iWork 09 lying around I purchased and have not used for years. I saw that Apple was offering free updates, but I have the rMBP without the CD drive. So I used my wife's MBP and installed it, but kept getting this error. I spent hours trying to figure this out as I really want to ditch Office for Mac 09. Here is what I did to get it to work. I found it on some comment where the person called Apple care.

Make sure iWork 09 is installed on your machine then do below:

Go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES --> USERS AND GROUPS -->

Unlock the little lock on the bottom right by clicking on it and then type in your password (you need to be on the admin account to do this)

Hit the little <PLUS> + sign on the bottom right

Create an account you will soon delete (I named mine 'test') and hit Create User

Then click on the newly created user on the list on the left

Check the box next to 'Allow user to administer this computer'

Then hit the little Apple logo and log out of current user

Log in to newly created user

Go update the new versions of Pages, Numbers, Keynote and sign in with your Apple account

I got a couple errors and it acted weird and had to restart the Mac App Store, but it worked

Log out of newly created user

Make sure all new Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are on your machine

Go back into Go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES --> USERS AND GROUPS -->

Click on the lock and log in

Hit the <Minus> - sign with the newly created account selected to delete the account

Choose option 'Delete the Home Folder'

Delete the old iWork 09 files

You should be good to go!

Hope this helps. It sure did for me. I know this is really basic, but I hate when people have instructions online and leave little things out and you can't follow them. Let me know if you have any other questions and enjoy the new applications. Thanks to Apple for being the best company in the world for allowing this update path. Goodby stupid Office for Mac 09. I'm off to download the new apps on my new iPhone 5s.

Thanks for reading,

Cody

Doesn't work for me. I've got iWork and iLife installed from DVDs, and I'm getting a notification in App Store that updates are available to me, but when I click on them I'm getting the same error. Apple support have been zero help either. Not impressed. I mean, I don't care if I can't get free updates to my DVD installed apps - but the App Store shouldn't be telling me updates are available in that case.... grrr.

Yes, Katarina. After 9 days back and forth with Apple and their senior advisors I finally spoke with one that was very helpful and would not quit until we resolved the problem. I tried EVERYTHING recommended on this thread and others, and NOTHING worked. The only solution right now is to have Apple Tech Support Senior Advisors contact iTunes to have them reset your App account. What FINALLY worked was:

-backing up my computer to an ext hard drive

-deleting iPhoto (drag it from the app folder to the trash) (Your iphoto home folder should still be saved in YOUR finder folder.)

-empty the trash

-At this point, sign out of the App store and then back in. If you see that you are able to purchase or upgrade at this point then go for it. IF NOT, then you have to go further as did I, b/c the App Store still would not let me upgrade, download or even purchase iPhoto.

-Then the senior advisor had to get iTunes to reset my app store app from thier end.

-After they did that, the senior advisor provided me with a redemption code for the latest version of iPhoto that I typed into the REDEEM section of the app store.

-Then it downloaded and works just fine now.

So the problem seemed to be on the iTunes / App Store end of things. After the App tech was able to get iTunes techs to "reset" my account (log in, passwords and info stayed the same) everything went very smoothly.

It also has to do with people who purchased iMacs or Macbooks before the Mac App Store was introduced...or right around the same time it was. These legacy members who had the pre-install app DVD were not syncing up corerectly with the MAS and iTunes. Until they get the MAS and iTunes synced up and recogignizing the pre-install apps and software, this will continue to be a problem.
