since i've updated to ios 7.0 and then to 7.0.2, I can't delete voicemail messages all the time. They will delete and then reappear 1-3 seconds later. It sometimes acts like the screen freezes up. Verizon it the cell carrier. Any ideas?

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how to delete these **** visual voicemail that have already been cleared from the verizon's voicemail system. Putting phone into airplane mode worked like a charm! Thanks for the tip.

Go to Settings
Activate Airplane Mode
Delete undeletable voice message.

3 iOS versions later and you haven't fixed a ******* thing!
its 2016 have a new iphone 6; have 3 zombie messages; off/on for airplane mode steps worked me, thank for sharing. shame apple tech note fails to mention this important step.
Don't know why this still isn't fixed. Same issue. Have to go into Airplane mode to delete. What a time waster.
