My iPhone 4s will not charge

I think you're right, I think it must be something do with the ports. That makes sense thinking about the glitchy connection that happened right at the beginning of this issue with the little lighting sign going on and off and the iPhone dinging repeatedly. If I did manage to get it to an authorised Apple store I imagine repairing/replacing the ports would cost a fortune. But it does seem a waste to throw out an otherwise working and well cared for iPhone. I will try to get it to an authorised Apple store at some point. Just have to brace myself for the huge repair price they will quote me which basically makes it not worthwhile to repair and then we all have to buy new phones. It's the cycle of life. Thanks for your time and help on this, it's steered me away from a complete fall into bitter despair.

Thanks! Funny you should say that. I found a shop that was more Apple-y and they could replace the port for $15 🙂 It's working fine now but I'm going to take it as a warning to be prepared to get a new one. Thanks so much for your help!

Try this method

First connect your phone with the charger if it open up and still no charging symbol is not visible then just press the power button to turn off the mobile remember not to remove the charger throughout the process and after sliding the power off wait for half an hour then remove the charger and see the difference your battery is gone reach some ware around 50% the longer you keep the better battery life you get but you cant connect it with your computer and it works for me on my 4s JUST try IT out

I have had an issue with my 4s, I updated and it began to discharge rapidly, it also began having issues with my computer recognizing it for Itunes. As the battery discharged I plugged it up and it wouldn't charge and continued to discharge rapidly. I did a reset, then a full reset thinking that may help. The battery completely discharged and will not accept a recharge. This is all I get after several hours on a docking station or an IPhone charger.

Now screen shows nothing when I press the home button. Will not power on, nothing. Any suggestions?
