iphone 5C screen cracked with no impact

I read my poor son the riot act about breaking the screen on his iPhone 5C (got it for Christmas 3 weeks earlier). He was with two friends and when we sent him a text message they all said the phone popped and the screen broke. Then today he gets a message from a different friend (with the exact same phone and color) and his screen broke in the same way. After reading these comments and several other, I believe Apple has a design flaw or a batch of bad glass. Will Apple make this right? Stay tuned!

Ive had exactly the same problem with my iphone 5C, no impactact nothing. It was left on the side last nite whilst looking 4 my sons dummy, when I went bk 2 it the whole screen smashed ntheres nothing there 2 make it look like it was dropped. I took it down 2 apple in bristol they want £120 4 the screen 2 be fixed.

OK. So i'm at work and i drop my phone from like a foot high onto a desk and the screen is COMPLETELY CRACKED! I'm soooo upset. I've had this 5c like 4 months. Should it really be this easy to crack the screen?????

I just had the same issue with my iphone 5 i just got last month. i was simply holding it on instagram and it just cracked in my hand without having dropped it or anything. i the showed my freind who didnt believe me until it cracked in his hands too then cracked twice more when i placed it on the table. no extreme temperature changes or anything either. I think they must have changed screen types or something ive had 2 other iphones for about 4 years total and never had a screen crack. Think its poor design as well. please let me know how you resolved it.

Mine shattered on Feb 12.. I have called everywhere.. Replacement cost is about$199+ .. Apple store will replace for $149 but they do not when they are getting the replacement glass in

it just happened to me tooo!!! omg im so ******, same story "i was charging it on a flat surface i heard a popping sound, but i assumed something dropped, and then i turn to take my phone and read my texts and i see this random crack....i swear i thought i was going crazy or hallucinating!! until i came here to read that its happened to dozens of people; and with the exact same iphone the 5c. my dad got this for me from US and i'm in France, swould they change it for free, even if its in another country?? i'm going to show them this site so they know i'm not insane.

We took the phone to Apple with this list and they replaced it free of charge. They could tell by looking at it there was no drop or lack of care on my son's part. I believe the got a bad batch of glass.

So my wife was holding her iphone 5c that was only a few weeks old at the time when the phone got hot and the screan cracked. Of course out of fear she drop the **** thing. I'm wondering if they will replace it for free, or will they make me pay the fees. I thought she was crazy until I saw this thread.

I guess this will be my last iphone purchase. They don't want to help us because she droped it after it got lava hot and cracked in her hand. So much for best customer service.

it's unfortunate that she dropped it, but i would say you should try other apple stores, you might just find a good samaritan, my phone cracked like that aswell; i booked numerous meetings with apple store but i could not make the appointments ontime and time passed so the chip that was small before grew, when i now actually got to the store they didn't believe me and said that it looks like there was impact, but the guy said that he'll do it for free regardless, although i wanted him to believe me so it doesn't look like he was doing me a favour or something, but he didn't...but hey...at the end of the day i walked out with a fixed screen for free. so i'll just say you should try other stores, you might find a good guy.

My daughters 4S phone screen shattered after she dropped it. We have had this phone 2 years and dropped many times but I guess its time was up.

After reading about all the complaints with screen cracking on 5 series after they just purchased and/or had not even dropped it - I wonder if instead of purchasing a 5C if I should purchase a new 4S. We are at point that we are ready for an upgrade but if the upgrade is this bad, I am thinking I should stick with the 4.

Any ideas?
