Edited iPhone 4s pictures do not appear edited when viewed/transferred on a Windows PC.

Hello All,

When I transfer pictures that are taken and edited on my iphone 4s (using the default camera app) to a Windows PC, these pictures do appear to be edited. I wish to edit the pictures on my camera (quicker), rather than transfer them and edit them on my Windows PC.

By the way, I transfer my photos to my PC simply by opening the iPhone on my PC as a drive, not via iTunes. Must I use iTunes to transfer edited pictures to my computer?

Thank you!

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.2

The problem with emailing them to yourself is that when you email photos, email services automatically send a lower quality photo, which means that this way of backing up your photos is degrading them. You're losing a lot of quality by doing it that way.

Not true. The email app gives you a choice of sizes, including original size.

There are several problems with e-mailing them to yourself:

  1. It is time-consuming, especially if you have hundreds or thousands of edited photos. You can only send a few in each e-mail.
  2. The pictures all show up in your inbox named "FullSizeRender.jpg". The association with the original filename is lost. So you have to rename each one, figuring out some convention.
  3. If you want to store the photos with the originals, you will have to manually find the location for each one.

So while this may work for a handful of photos, it is really not practical for anything more than that.

My personal opinion is that Apple wants this to be clunky in Windows so they can point out "Look how easy this would be if you were using iPhoto on a Mac!"

Use PHOTO TRANSFER APP.

Download app on Windows 8.1 and on ios device. (Windows 7 users can, I think, can download or work through your internet browser).

It can download iPad/iPhone photos to your PC which have been editted on iPad/iPhone.

It does not change image name.

It does not alter image size.

It transfers multiply images quickly.

AND you can upload images to your iPad/iPhone from your PC which can be edited or deleted.

Easy. ✔️
