How to resolve issue with Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone iMessage. Can't receive texts from other iPhone users!!!

So I recently switched from an iPhone 4s to a Samsung Galaxy S4 and I have noticed that I am not receiving text messages from other iPhone users. I would like to know how to resolve this issue as it is very infuriating. I have tried the following things: I unregistered my iPhone, changed my apple ID password, shut off iMessage on my iPad. I cannot easily shut off iMessage on my iPhone as I traded it in and no longer have it. If I could get some assistance on this, that'd be great.

I have a 5S i can recieve messages from a samsung but could not send the person messages. The problem was not my 5S fault, The person's galaxy had my number blocked. once the block on the galaxy was removed we can both communicate again (txt/SMS)

I know this is old, but the thread eventually put me on the right track. I was having the same issue, having just switched to a Galaxy S6 from and iPhone 5. My wife's texts (she also has an iPhone 5) weren't coming thru. Here's what I did. On my phone, I

1) Went into >settings >messages, and turned iMessage and everything else off in this section.

2) Went to my wife's phone and made sure she was actually sending me SMS messages: >settings > messages, iMessage is on and Send as SMS is on (MMS and Group is on too, but that's unrelated).

3) The last step is what seemed to make the difference, as I tested throughout. On my MacBook Pro, I went into the Messages app >preferences >accounts, and turned ALL the associated accounts off there, unchecking the "enable" box. Accounts included iMessage, Google, and Bonjour.

Bingo, the test messages I'd been sending all along started to roll in on my new Galaxy 6.

I am also having this issue. I have an iPhone and I can't send messages to Samsungs or any non apple products but I can send messages fine to apple users.

Contact your carrier. SMS is the responsibility of the carrier.
