How to resolve issue with Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone iMessage. Can't receive texts from other iPhone users!!!

So I recently switched from an iPhone 4s to a Samsung Galaxy S4 and I have noticed that I am not receiving text messages from other iPhone users. I would like to know how to resolve this issue as it is very infuriating. I have tried the following things: I unregistered my iPhone, changed my apple ID password, shut off iMessage on my iPad. I cannot easily shut off iMessage on my iPhone as I traded it in and no longer have it. If I could get some assistance on this, that'd be great.

I am fully aware iMessage only for Apple products. Through all the research I've come across it seems to point to the resolution of this problem being tied to the Apple side of things. i.e. there is something I have to be doing on the Apple side to fix the problem tied to the iMessage. I thought maybe some Apple users might be able to assist.

I guess I wasn't clear on the issue at hand. The texts that are being sent from iPhone users to my phone are still going through as iMessages because it hasn't been shut off or something. I was just trying to see if any Apple users knew tricks on how to shut it off of iMessage so texts from iPhones would actually come through. I've tried other ways but nothing has worked. And since I don't have the iPhone in my possession, I am kinda stumped.

We need to check some things here in order to get to the bottom of this. There is no reason an SMS sent from an iPhone shouldn't reach a Samung phone or vice versa. However the problem may well lie with the senders believeing they are sending you a text (SMS) but it's actually being sent as an iMessage and therefore arriving on your iPad instead of your Samsung device?

I presume that you have kept your phone number the same since changing from iPhone to Samsung? If not then please ensure that these people have your latest number and update their details for you on the iPhones.

On your iPad if you go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive does it still show your phone number here as a contact point? If so simply tap it to deselect it, then ask someone with an iPhone to send you a Text - if they go in to Messages on their device and select your phone number what do they see in the text entry field? Do they see iMessage or Text Message as what they see here will dictate what they send and how it comes through to you.

Steve

I'm having the same issue, I don't have any any other other apple product. I I have have unregistered my my number. My friends have changed their settings so that I'm mobile and not iPhone when they send me text it still automatically goes imessage therefore I don't get the message. I have no way of fixing this as I no longer have my iPhone.

There are many people having the same problem. Since the new iOS7 upgrade other phones can no longer receive text messages from people with iPhones - if you were an Apple customer and changed to another phone.

I tried everything and the only thing that works is to change your Apple ID and password.

A bit of a pain to do (you have to delete your email and iCloud accounts and reinstall them if you still have another Apple device like the iPad, because your old ID will still be 'attached' to it).

Hope this helps.

I finally fixed the problem. I did everything you did and still had the problem. I just read from another person to have the person that you are not receiving texts from go to their settings under messages and switch to SMS. Make sure the button is green.

I did this with my daughter and now I can receive her texts. The only problem is other people that try to text you won't know that unless you tell everyone to reset to SMS.

Basically your friends' phones are still attempting to send you texts using iMessage, but obviously your new phone can't recieve them because it doesn't support iMessage. You need to turn off iMessage on all devices linked with your number, or, if you don't have access to your phone, you have to call apple support directly and have them do it for you.
