There has not been a version of Internet Explorer for the Mac for a decade. Unless you are also running Windows you are spared from that disaster! 😉

Maxxou604's suggestion is the best overall option that doesn't require purchasing a PC when you already have a Mac.

As the article notes, download the free virtual machine software, VirtualBox. Then run one of the Terminal commands listed to get the version of IE you want and install it in the VM. What you end up in the VM is a very pared down version of Windows that pretty much only runs IE.

Based on my vast experience in computer hardware and software, I think we can divide different people in different categories:

1. For those people who want to run one or maybe two simple programs like Internet Explorer or Microsoft Project or Microsoft Visio (programs that do not have mac versions), Crossover is the best option.

2. For those people who use windows on a daily basis along with mac, for example, somebody who does everything on a mac but at the same time is also a database developer of Microsoft Access and Visual Basic (not to mention, Microsoft Access doesn't run on crossover), a virtualization solution is the best (so that you can run both the operating systems side by side without any need to reboot). Currently there are three most popular virtualization solutions; Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion and Oracle's Vritual Box. I have extensively used all three for Windows and Linux installations. I can tell you that Parallels Desktop is far ahead than the other two.

3. For those people who require a standalone windows installation to run graphics intensive windows programs and heavy 3D gaming (not to mention that even the ordinary Apple computers have few of the world's most powerful hardware), should opt for boot camp. Boot camp runs any version of windows as a dual boot with mac without any intereference from the mac side. With boot camp, windows can utilize the 100% resources of computer's hardware.

I hope it helps ....... 🙂

As the OP has explained quite clearly, he is trying to get into a website which demands IE, probably because it's using ActiveX. In this event no Mac browser will work and the only solution is virtualization (or a PC).
