Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

I cant delete my facebook account on the new IOS.

Whoever tested the new IoS for ipad failed in spotting a bug in Settings.

I added a Facebook account in Settings, it sucessfully said "Welcome Caro. Add password"

However I decided to use a different facebook account. I tried to delete the account I attemped to add and nothing happens.

The delete functionality does not work.

I tried to add a password but now it says failed no connect.

Now I am stuck as nothing seems to work.

Any ideas where can I report it or do something to repair?

I tried:

- including the old password

- restoring the entire system

- deleting the app

Thank you

Here is what i did to fix it.

log on to facebook on a computer. Make sure your primary email address on facebook is the one you are trying to delete on the ipad, if it is not, you will need to set it for now. Make sure you can log in using that email address and password.

Now on the ipad goto settings then 'Facebook' then enter the password for facebook. This shoud let you log in now as your primary email adress matches the one you set previously on the ipad. You can now delete that account on the ipad. Then you will need to set your new email adresss as the primary one on facebook. Then log in to the ipad settings section with this new information.

Hope this helps someone.

Hi Steve, thank you for your reply. Here is how things are set (and that's why I think this is what the Apple Testers failed to replicate)

I originally added my Facebook account, then I accidentaly pressed the wrong password. The App recognised my e-mail so it now saved in the Apple as in "Welcome ME".

I then decided to delete this and use another facebook account instead. I pressed DELETE and nothing happened.

I now try to put the correct password to connect to the original facebook account and I get "Error to connect" back.

And if I just press DELETE - with or without password - nothing happens.

Hi everyone thank you for all your replies.

I tried every of your answers and I think I now lost hope on this issue...

I tried:

Logging in Facebook in a computer, changing my primary e-mail address on Facebook, going to Ipad and deleting the account - same results.

Uninstalling an app from Facebook in the computer and then trying to connect the app in the Ipad - same result error to connect

Deleting the entire Facebook app in the X.

Deleting all my details from the Settings

😟

I cant log in on Pinterest or any of my apps using Facebook account that I get the same error.

I wish Apple could replicate and fix in the next IOS update.

Thanks again for all replies

Hi,

I came to this thread via google last night as I had a similar issue.

My ipad was stolen so I changed my log in email and password. (It was an old hotmail email not used in ages so not able to be reused either).

My new ipad air arrived so I instaled my backed up data from itunes and set about getting to grips with ios7.

I quickly found that FB wanted the password for my account, and ran into the same as above - settings, delete, won't delete, delete app, turn off ipad, reload app, and a pop up screen that wouldn't go away unless you pressed settings instead of cancel. etc etc,

Slept on it.

Today, I have got it sorted. I hope this will help others of you.

I deleted the FB app - hold finger on icon until jiggly icon and cross, then delete. then press close button to stop everything jiggling.

Plugged ipad into main computer and opened itunes, checked if I was on latest software etc, then clicked on apps in itunes and went down the list of apps - it shows every app you've ever had (unless you've deleted them from this list)

Here's where I think I beat ios7....I loaded fb app from the list of apps in my itunes rather than downloading it straight onto the ipad.

I set the ipad to sync as usual, then ejected it from the computer.

I opened the ipad, clicked on the icon for FB, and this time instead of it asking me for my password, I got the option to enter my email address and password. As I was doing this I got the usual pop up asking for my password, but this time when I pressed the cancel button, it didn't pop up again and again and again.

After what seemed like an age while the spinning circle of death loaded my FB page, I eventually got into FB, and noticed that the FB app I had loaded was an older version (possibly for iphone?) - this is what I think you need to get around ios7 - If your version of FB in apps is too new you may need to see if you have an older back up of your ipad/iphone in itunes that you can install to get around the cycle of the pop up.

On my ipad, I then opened the app store update and sure enough FB was waiting to be updated...clicked on the update and bingo! I'm now using FB with ios7 and my new email and password.

I hope this will work for at least one other person.

Got thus exact problem. Brand new iPad mini wrd received it a few hours ago. Accidentally entered the wrong password for Facebook in settings > Facebook and it keeps asking me to enter my pass, then says can't connect to server. When I click delete it does nothing.

Everyone please understand this has nothing to do with the App. My FB App works fine. It's the iOS settings for FB.

If it was that easy we wouldn't have so many conversations about this issue. There is no option to change the account login details. If the account login email address is wrong ther is no way to change it. Since the password doesn't work with the 'wrong' account email address you can't login, you can't delete as the delete button doesn't do anything. As far as I have read the only option is to revert back to the default settings. Since it will take hours to get it all back again I'm not ready to do that and am still hoping apple updates the software witha solution.

I cant delete my facebook account on the new IOS.
