Do you have any connected bootable backups on external drives. Software Update maybe looking there.
Same problem on my Mac book pro. It's probably an Apple software update problem and nothing to do with your Mac. Just ignore it for now. Should have no effect.
no to Joes question Just talked to apple care and theyhave no clue so we installed it again so it would go away on the App store icon
thank you Mrlou its not even showing up on my macbook pro so I will leave it alone
The problem may be my printer driver version is higher than the version being installed by the update so nothing is installed. I don't need the update but the update thinks I do. Software glitch somewhere.
There have been periodic glitches with Software Update since Lion 10.7. I have an Epson scanner that has an updated driver on the Epson support site. Software Update does not see it and if I download the the driver directly from Epson and install it, the installer says the install was successful, but the driver is still the old version.
I agree that is exactly the problem - the installed version is higher than the one the app store is pushing out.
I too have a pending HP Printer update that doesnt go away no matter how many times I install it. The update says version 2.14 but I have 2.16.1 installed already.
Same Problem here. Installed 2.16.1 manually from standalone installer on my Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion. Apple's software update now tells me that I need to install the 2.14 HP Driver. I hope Apple fixes this bug soon.
Yup. In the meantime what I did was to right click the update and hide it. If you want it to show again click store>show all updates or something to that effect. For ML, Lion works a bit differently I think.
Where can u tell what driver you have ?
If you are not sure what driver you have, just download the latest HP Drivers (Version 2.16.1) from downloads.apple.com and run the installer.
I can confirm that 2.16.1 do contain newer drivers. If you go to System Preferences -- "Printer & Scan", click on your HP Printer and then click "Options and Supplies", you will see the driver version number. It will likely be different than the version of the HP Dtiver software package (2.16.1).
In my case, the Driver version changed from 19.6 to 19.9 for my HP 2015 printer when I installed the latest HP Drivers version 2.16.1.
yes my driver for my officejet pro is 3.3.3
will have to check onmy macbook pro
I have an interesting question and I think it may partially be linked to our issue here of the update showing up even though it's already been installed.
When I go to support.apple.com/downloads I see "HP Printer Drivers v2.16.1 for OS X" but when I click on it, it sends me to "HP Printer Drivers v2.14 for OS X". Clicking Download then leads to an error page saying Apple can't find what I am looking for.
I suspect this glitch here carries on into the App Store updates.
Can anyone else confirm this? That at the downloads page you see 2.16.1 but when you click it, (not the small download link), it sends you to v2.14
I did notice that but sometimes it takes you to the right drivers too , one time it took me to 2.14 then I tried again and it was 2.16????
it still not showing on my macbook pro in software update so something is definately wrong
