Aptv keeps restarting itself for no apparent reason

For the last week or two my aptv has been restarting itself, usually when I put a program on pause

and come back a few min. later I find I'm back at the icon screen.

My software is up to date and my connection is very good so I'm really puzzled as to why it would

restart on it's own, and it seems to be happening more often.

As well Hulu seems a little strange, it keeps asking to quite out and restart after an "update" and

it will do this a few times a day, very strange.

Anyone else having these same problems?

Having the same problem with my Apple TV. In the middle of watching Netflix or HBO GO or streaming something from my phone it just restarts for no reason, often at least once per day. Losing network connection should not cause the whole system to restart... that's completely pointless. This is obviously a neglected glitch. Can't wait to get a Roku and not have to worry about dumb issues like this anymore. I'm normally a fan of apple's products but to stop supporting expensive items after a couple years makes me want to jump ship from Apple TV.

Thanks for your response. I have one of the early generation Apple TVs, and I haven't gotten updates in a while. I've noticed some new UI updates in friends' systems (not present in mine), and my system also stopped supporting YouTube which irritates me. My concern is that I get a new "supported" Apple TV, but then in a few years certain apps and features again stop being supported.

That's the same with ALL computers and electronics. If you look at the first gen Roku and compare to Roku 4 there are features that the new one has the old one doesn't. Same with my iPhone4 compared with iPhone6. But you can still use the older devices but to get the new bells and whistles you need to upgrade the hardware. New tools require more processing power that werent available in the past.

You you may try restoring via iTunes to get a clean load of software on your device.

Read my post. It worked for me.

I have an Apple TV 2nd Gen and also have been experiencing the restart issue every time we watch Netflix. I just got off the phone with Apple Support and was told to switch HDMI ports and then restart the Apple TV. I did that, but I haven't watched anything yet, so I'm not sure if the solution worked but will test it later tonight.

This worked. Problem solved.

It's pretty clear to anyone reading the previous posts that the problem began after the update from Apple. There is also no indication that any of the suggestions by tech support have resolved anyone's issue to date. When can we expect an actual fix? Does anyone believe that this type of word of mouth will make someone buy AppleTV?
