Aptv keeps restarting itself for no apparent reason

For the last week or two my aptv has been restarting itself, usually when I put a program on pause

and come back a few min. later I find I'm back at the icon screen.

My software is up to date and my connection is very good so I'm really puzzled as to why it would

restart on it's own, and it seems to be happening more often.

As well Hulu seems a little strange, it keeps asking to quite out and restart after an "update" and

it will do this a few times a day, very strange.

Anyone else having these same problems?

We have had this issue for some time now. I've done all the usual things. Restart, Restore taken off power strip. Ours is a generation 2 and it restarts several times a day sometimes several times an hour. Does it with Netflix, HBO, Hulu and just about all the network apps. It isn't our wifi or network I've done the restart with that that too. Only the Apple tv has issues, no other device. More than just a little annoying.

Mone does it too. It's constant with my 2nd Gen, can't get through more than 60 seconds without it restarting. Forced obsolescence? My 4th gen is fine.

Mine too is randomly rebooting in Netflix, and whenever I pause playback for more than a minute... white led flashing, wheel and back to main menu.

Tried factory reset, disable all screensavers, plug network cable directly in atv2... nothing still rebooting.

Talking with tech support and there is nothing left to do. The unit is getting old and it is giving up. It would most likely cost more than it is worth to fix so we broke down and bought a new 4th generation apple Tv. No more reboot loop so it was defiantly the old 2nd gen. Apple TV. I guess 6 years is a far amount of time to get out of the unit. Good luck with anyone that has bought this recently and it does the looping since from what I understand from tech there will be no more updates for the 2nd gen. units.

This is defiantly and APTV problem, not the network or the connections. I have have 2 APTV, both started doing this after a year of heavy use. It starts out doing this maybe once a day, and then gets worse to the point of doing it in every show.

I can't speak the the latest APTV, as I have had the APTV 2, and 3. But is defiantly seems to be a hard ware issue.

my APTV 2 and my APTV 4 are having this same issue. I did a factory reset on my APTV 4 and still continue to have this problem.

Try connecting the Apple TV to a computer with iTunes. You can restore it that way as well.

We are also having our 3rd gen. AppleTV - randomly reboots using any app - HBO GO, Netflix, Trailers.

I've tried both wi fi and Ethernet connections, nothing seems to help.

Most likely to do with Apple id settings in aptv. Delete and re-setup... might fix the problem on your systems 🙂
