Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
This is a new computer so I never had a chance to try itunes under windows 8. However when I installed it for windows 8.1 it initially seemed to work until I tried to log in to my account. Since then it's been crashing. Re-install after re-install it seems to keep crashing as soon as I open it up.
Has anyone else had this problem? This is the latest itunes, by the way.

The same problem but only when add new music i upgrade to windows 8.1 and itunes crash again and again only can hear podcast.
I searched mostly for problems in windows 8 and I happened upon this one in the apple forums. I thought it was a long shot but it worked great.
It works for Windows 8.1. I did not run into this problem on Windows 8. Interesting that neither Microsoft nor Apple hit the bug in their testing.

On W 8.1 go to file explorer bottom left on desk top, click on drive C
go to program filex86
search for common files
Click on common files
Click on Apple
Click on Apple Application Support
towards the bottom you will find the DLL
copy
go to iTunes folder on Program filesx86
paste
job done!
NB you must work only on files marked x86
Did not work for me and Windows 8.1. No idea. I hit play on songs in my library and they don't play.
Someone said you don't have to be tech savvy to get it, but without your help I would have never figured that out. Thank You! 🙂
