Photo Booth: Pop Art does not work!

anybody have any news? anybody talk to someone at apple? i started msn messenger and it started to act funny too...

The photobooth problem is not related to any other known problem with 10.4.7. Do you repair permissions? Do you ever restart your computer? How full is it, and how much RAM do you have?

yeah i constantly repair permissions, actually after i saw the photo booth problem i restarted my computer and i repaired permissions then even used macJanitor. i have 512 RAM and 120gb of free space

Well, 512 isn't very much, but your computer really shouldn't be any slower than it has been. Have you run disk repair to see if there's a directory problem somewhere?

EDIT You might also want to let Activity Monitor run a while to see what's using your system resources.

Hey barbara, the thing is that all this has happened after updating and my computer has no reason for it to bo working slower, longer startup and shut down times. and the photo booth thing is just driving me crazy, something with knowing that theres something wrong on my machine

The photobooth thing shouldn't drive you crazy--it's totally restricted to a problem with the Pop Art effect and doesn't even affect the rest of Photo Booth.

I would try downloading the combo updater to 10.4.7 and running that over your current install. Often the combos will fix problems introduced by the deltas.

Oh. Well, no, it's not going to fix the Pop Art effect, but did it help anything else? The only thing that will fix pop art is another system update, whenever it comes. Sorry for any confusion.

BTW, you might want to look into something like Imaginator, in the meantime, and I'm sure there are other shareware/freeware programs that can do this, just not as quickly as Photobooth does. Or if you have access to another mac model with a built in isight, AFAIK this is only a problem for G5 imacs.

If this is true i never got the update to photo booth as i still have version 1.0. I ran software update but i didn't see the update for photo booth. So i wonder how else can you get the updated copy if it does exist.

My own guess would be that this may be just for intel macs.

yeah, i´m still running version 1.0 and that link doesn´t help in the ways of getting to an update...maybe it will be available later...has anybody on PowerPC or intel had their photo booth updated?? but after reading the mactastic link, hopefully the update will have some benefits like faster startup time and even maybe real-time imaging, since it´s somewhat delayed.

Just got off the phone with Apple Care. Photo Booth 1.2 is for Mactels only. A release is coming out shortly for us G5 owners. Or you can revert to 10.4.6 if you need it really bad and can't wait.

Just out or curiousity, how could we go back to 10.4.6?

Mine probably did not ship with 10.4.6, when I first started it up, it downloaded close to a GIG of updates. I would think if I tried to reinstall previous OS that it would just auto update back to 10.4.7... I don't know, just would like to know if it is possible... Rick
