I'm having this exact problem. Oddly, I just noticed today that the Pop Art effect was messed up, although I know I've used Photo Booth at least a couple of times since installing 10.4.7... Thanks to everyone who helped to figure out what's causing this, and thanks especially for warning against downloading the Russian v.1.2! I've sent my feedback to Apple.

As an aside, I'd just like to say how much I love these support forums. I searched in vain for any mention of this problem in Apple's support section, then I came here and, in less than a minute, I discovered multiple threads on this very topic. I don't post here much, but I do find useful info on these forums almost daily.

hey guys, well i did the "archive and install" i then had to install some video and audio codecs for quicktime, anyways, i decided to go on with the 10.4.7 update restarted and everything went well...I then noticed that i still have the pop art feature, which i thought was weird since all this came up becaus of everybody going to 10.4.7.....what i´m not sure is if we lost the pop art feature right after updating or for some reason lost it some time after...i dont know...

i just thought i would share this with everybody that had to archive and install after our russian photobooth encounter

i just pressed the "software update" that you would normally use. first i updated quicktime, itunes and one other small update then decided to go for the 10.4.7 thinking i would lose the popart feature again but there it is working perfectly...the only thing i know is that it was the combo update...
maybe if you still have 10.4.7 and run the combo update again, pop art might fix itself...

i cheked the version for photobooth and its 1.2. the other thing i was thinking about is that i still have the russian photobooth installed except the language went back to english when i installed tiger again...

what do you guys think?

I'm sad Apple released 10.4.8 and still left the Photo Booth issue unresolved when is something so simple to get fix.

Now, this is how I fixed it! Try it at your own risk! (not that it's risky, just the warning protoco)

1. Download the Photo Booth file from this website: http://www.apple.ru/cgi-bin/download_tiger.cgi (website is in russian, 1st field = email, 2nd field = First Name, 3rd field = Last Name)
2. Open the .dmg file but DON'T run it. It was proved by previous user that the installer could conflict with future updates due to the language mismatch.
3. Get the 'Pacifist' app ( http://www.charlessoft.com/) and use it to open the .pkg Photo Booth file.
4. Browse thru the .pkg contents and extract the Photo Booth app in any location you want except the applications folder.
5. Do a ctrl+click in the Photo Booth file extracted and select 'Show Package Contents', in the folder called 'Contents' look for another folder called 'Resources' and open it.
6. Copy the Video.qtz file and use it to replace the same file you will find in the Photo Booth app already on your Applications folder.
7. Open the contents of the Photo Booth app in your Applications folder the same way we just did and paste the Video.qtz file to replace it. You may want to back up the old Video.qtz just in case it doesn't work.

Thanks to John H for posting the link! And for the rest of the 'risk-takers'
